It's been super quiet, as far as new product announcements from AES goes. Was there just not that much this time around?
Did anything new and interesting pop up? I heard about the new UTA summing mixer, and that seems cool, but that's about it.

I watched Warren Huart's video on the AES show. It was the most highly attended show ever. Haven't seen much about new products yet..

Saw Avids new Mbox
Avids 8ch mic pre expansion unit for the Carbon
Sound ID now can do Immersive formats and run natively in the merging Anubis
Some other plugin stuff.
Haven't heard anything else hardware wise.
Oh and Neuamnn had some new small format monitors. Headphones. And looked like maybe a mic pre or converter couldnt' tell.

We audioscape bought out the production model of the Dual 260VU at AES! It was a Smash Chop hit! Even Vance may get over his reluctance and try one out at his place. It certainly goes a long way to end my revulsion towards the old 160VU. And it can operate for more than hour, and won't overheat and burn the power button off. Ok, I have to stop shilling. AND WE GOT ON PLAP! What a gas! Loved it. In person, Warren is warm and personal, inviting and professional and was a pleasure to interview with. Chris is on at 10 minutes, and yours truly is on there at 22 minutes. It was fun!! The energy at this year's AES was INSANE! |

Hey, ericn, it was exciting! HAHAHAHAHAHA We not only got more screen time, we got more visitors. The 4 of us were non-stop every minute of the show. It was incredible. a few familiar folks dropped by to put faces on usernames. That was really cool. |

In fact anytime I hear the words “ it sounds exactly like the one we cloned” I’m scared, you needed to have a bunch to get the real idea. That's exactly what we're doing now for the 1178. I'm going to out to measure a buddy's old 1178, shortly. You start from the schematics, and then start digging in to as many units as possible until you find the consensus and figure out what the best way of doing it is. Including anything that was a shortcut in the production models and whether or not those things helped or hindered. Cheers! |
