I know they have bern rejigging these, but I just saw a 10% pp fee just for sending $ and this would not include a fee from my bank.
These fees, like at Reverb, are getting out of hand.

Yea, I made a personal account for friends to pay me for gigs because they no longer allowed FF payments to my business account. Not sure what all is going on over there. Guess I should read the fine print. Who has time for that?

They're pushing people away! Margins are tight for many and there are many companies using eBay and Reverb as their primary sales/distribution channels . . . this truly sucks, but does open up an opportunity for another player to get in on the action.

They are basically a bank, if your a bank you have to beat inflation to make money, yeah it sucks.

"Shares in PayPal are off more than 6% (or around $5BN in market cap) in early Monday trading after a massive internet campaign to cancel accounts went viral in response to the company's now-reversed policy that would fine users $2,500 if they were to allegedly promote "misinformation"
The company backpedaled on the line in their user agreement, which stated that for each violation, PayPal says users are subject to repercussions. Those include “liquated damages” of $2,500 per violation - with the money being taken directly from a person’s PayPal account.
Users were directed to PayPal’s user agreement, which states in part that PayPal can take a number of actions if users participate in restricted activities, such as holding their money in balance indefinitely. It also says that “you will be liable to PayPal for the amount of PayPal’s damages caused by your violation of the Acceptable Use Policy” at the amount of $2,500 per violation.
After outrage ensued, PayPal then insulted everyone's intelligence - claiming the $2,500 penalty - which would have definitely gone through legal review - went out "in error" and "included incorrect information."
“An AUP notice recently went out in error that included incorrect information. PayPal is not fining people for misinformation and this language was never intended to be inserted in our policy,” a PayPal spokesperson told The Epoch Times in an email.
“Our teams are working to correct our policy pages. We’re sorry for the confusion this has caused,” the spokesperson added."

Foreign to a friend, used to be like 2-3%. OK this is why with any foreign payment I stressed in the Coles thread confirm current fee’s exchange rate and when exchange rate is calculated. You learn the hard way, it sucks but we all get all those “ changes to our terms of service “ emails and those changes are buried so deep you will fall asleep 3-4 times before you find it.

You should close your PayPal account like many of us have. They suck. Svart’s post above tells some of the story but fear not, they will do it again when given the opportunity.

Sometimes, its still good to have in a pinch. I’ve only sold on Kijiji for a year, so direct and simple. I can transfer money cheaper through my bank cheaper.

Yeah, but unfortunately if your doing business it’s almost a must.. And there in lies the problem and just one of the reasons why the world is where it is and where it is going, it is because too many people accept being treated like a non worthy POS. The flip side is those of us that recognize what is transpiring will search solutions with those that have the same principles. I can tell you I have not purchased and will not purchase things from companies that only use PayPal. It cuts both ways.

Agreed but, here is the rub if you except PayPal and other forms nobody is walking away. Unfortunately for some customers it’s a must. Like it or not it offers some protection for both. The trick when discussing price is to agree on payment platform and adjust accordingly. Could someone build a better platform? Hell yeah but PayPal or one of the banks would buy them up 10 seconds after they see market except it. Fees would rise simply because the buyer would need to in order to service the debt. One thing I noticed the other day when I was entering my new CC info for the Teslas internet, Elon doesn’t except PayPal! Go figure.

Someone took the time to add those very specific things as amendments to their User Agreement.. Yet they say it's in error.. It's a big mistake you see.. I don't think it's so much an "error" in what they meant. It's an error in allowing us to know what is going on behind the scenes and the things they have planned to put in place whenever directed to do so. We now know that FB had very in-depth sessions with the White House on policing Covid information and they wanted FB to suspend profiles that went against their Newspeak. I'm sure they also had very in-depth relations with all types of media and commerce sites as well, similar to how Canada shut down bank accounts of people they accused of ThoughtCrime. Remember, we've always been at war with eastasia.

I tried to close my PayPal account a few days ago - after I was caught up in a PayPal phishing scam - that nearly got me (the first time I've been caught on one of these (We all seem to get one scam or another coming in on our computers or phones nerly every day) - It really stressed me out. The most I could do with my PayPal account was to put it 'on hold' which the rep said was as good as closed - since I can't use it now - and presumably no one else could either, however I wanted to completely close the account - the rep connected me to another specialist - she said it would take 2 minutes, after an hour of waiting and being subjected to awful repeating message loop and obnoxious music - I hung up.

If you can login to your PayPal account go to settings and click “close account” it will give you a message saying once you close your account you can no longer access it or get transaction info, after you close it you get the truly heartfelt “we’re sorry to see you go” but you will feel much better and that’s what matters 😊

That sounds like every time I have ever had to phone PayPal! Ah, then you know it was the real Paypal phone number - scammers would be quick to answer your call!
As an aside: I've been on apple computers ever since I was 'forced' to learn how to use a computer in order to learrn Photoshop - around 1998. One thing that has kept me using Macs is the customer tech support - even after warranty has expired - they have gotten me out of many a jam over the years. No long wait times either.

For PayPal I was open the App to get the phone number, so many scams. Should just save it to my phone, but the day I do they will change the number and some scammer will grab the old one. It’s as bad as those phony USPS emails.

Actually we the tax payers are paying for this and any other industries that get subsidies. Oil, banking, etc…..I’ll stop here because the list is far too long and I’m in a good mood and don’t want to ruin it. George Carlin was spot on when he said “It’s a big club and you ain’t in it………”. Nor would I want to be.
