I'm looking for a cheap , probably old version , vocal tuning plugin I can use with Pro Tools LE 7.4 .
I just want it for when I practice singing . Record vocal takes and tune them as a reference for correct pitch , then practice along with the tuned vocal track .
I guess maybe an old version of Auto Tune ?
I've never used a pitch correct plugin so I have no clue whats out there .

I have an old version of melodyne somewhere, I will find it..
if you want to pay any transfer costs, its yours.
Okay I found it...that took exactly 2.5 secs.
I have the installation disk here for melodyne plug in.
You do the leg work, find out if I can transfer it to you and if its suitable
and I will then either email you the serial number after we do the transfer and then snail mail you the instal disc which you may or may not need.
cheers

(disclaimer, I hate the sound of autotune and melodyne with a passion and everything they stand for with regards to fake singing)
Just FYI... try Waves manual tuning plugin. You can fix the odd note that's off tune and it doesn't change the sound of the voice.

I don't like any of the computer fix it in the mix stuff ...... quantizing drums and sound replacer . I want to try using it as a tool for practicing singing . Record myself , pitch correct it and see how far I'm off and also hear the perfect pitches . I think it will help internalize the notes of the song and learn it quicker . I started doing something similar but with drums . I make a complete drum track of a song out of drum samples which is then perfectly in time . I practice playing drums to that , record myself playing along . On play back I can hear where my hits are flaming and where I'm going off time . Its helped me tremendously over just playing with a click . Its helped me hear the groove and what perfect time sounds like . So I'm thinking with the vocal pitch correction plugin , I can process a vocal track and use it as a guide of perfect pitch to practice singing along with .

Nothing wrong with that! That's just another form of vocal training.

Nothing wrong with that! That's just another form of vocal training. I haven't tried it yet , hopefully I'll get Melodyne from Wiz , but I'm thinking it might actually be one of the best ways to vocal train . One of the big things I've had to learn is being able to hear when notes are sharp and flat . I could always tell when something sounded off , " that sounds bad " . But knowing exactly what is off and how much is another story . That has taken me a lot of practice . Usually I gotta grab a guitar or piano , find the notes and compare..."oh yeah I'm waaaay sharp there".... But having a "perfect pitch " vocal track as reference I can compare and hear instantly and know where I'm off .

The singing practice idea with some sort of pitch correction idea is a good one, it will also help you (and sometimes a wayward client) particularly with working out and learning to sing harmony...as you can move notes around and hear the effect.
check your PMs 8)

Quick question to wiz and others... Do you prefer Melodyne over Auto-Tune? Does it have that same 'syruppy' robotic sound to it? I haven't used Melodyne much and absolutely DETEST AT, so I'm curious if I should get the latest version of Melodyne again and give it more time and patience.

Short answer, Yes.... i prefer melodyne to Auto Tune.
I tended to only use it, when I really needed to "fix" something, when mixing on a shoe string for clients.
In my own material, I just retrace.
I will say this, I have found the pitch correction that comes with logic pro X able to handle anything I want to do.
cheers
