My collaborator and friend has a Tele Custom that he trashed touring.
Looking for recommendations for replacement bodies, preferably with nitro as an option.
Thanks!

There is very little that isn't reparable.
Can you share some pictures please?

Maybe MJT? They only do the relic thing though.
Guitar Mill?
Not sure if Marc Rutters does Customs or shoots nitro.
Cheers, Geoff

Everyone I know that has shopped stuff like this uses Warmoth. Yeah, that’s the obvious choice and I think they have more three bolt options than smaller shops will.

3 bolt? Is this an old guitar or a newer one, like a reissue? If its new production & you want a legit Fender body there's Stratosphere... they part out guitars & have ebay & reverb outlets too... stratosphereparts.com/Warmoth is the 800 pound gorilla. The other gorilla is/was USAGC which is now owned (in full/part?) by MJT - USACG claim to fame is ex-Warmoth guys who supply lots of parts to lots of small "bootweak" builders. usacustomguitars.com/Yet another option is Musikraft - musikraft.com/Not sure about finish work, I've tended to do most of that myself. Handful of finished Warmoth bodies have passed through my hands and they use a much, much thinner finish then the big F or most other production companies. Only first hand experience with MJT was about a decade ago & not exactly excellent, but then I'm not into the whole relic thing either. YMMV.

It's a reissue, was his touring alternative to his main guitar for a long time and got trashed. I suppose it might be fixable, but I think he's interested in a fresh start. It's probably a form of therapy, like most guitar purchases/tinkering.

I have a warmoth tele body from 94 and love it. Stew Mac also has bodies. There's also always plenty of loaded bodies on eBay worth looking at.

MJT will do bodies without relic, just request it. At least they used to years ago. Really awesome vintage body with nitro finish, it will wear like vintage though

Super interesting reading.
After all that, he’s doing what Ward suggested and simply fixing the existing body.

I second the "fix the original" sentiment. Apart from that, I've had success scoring bodies and necks off eBay – both to build a 1967 parts-Coronado, and a factory fresh Fender MiM Tele body for a 1980s neck. Very pleased with both. If your friend is a tinkerer, there is also the "design and build your own" route. It is more expensive and time consuming than just buying, but very rewarding and therapeutic.
