In most of my searching through here, their pencil condensers come up with what seems to be mostly favorable thoughts, especially in comparison to the 184's. Haven't seen/read much about their LDC's in this board.
I have a [used] Warbler MKIII on the way which is one of his edge terminated CK12 variants. From all I can tell, despite being a Chinese built capsule/mic, his work seems to be well respected on the budget end of the spectrum
Your thoughts appreciated and as expected, let the good puns role!

I had a Warbler 127 (omni flat capsule) a while back and it was a great mic. I wish I still had it — I didn't have my room + front end quite sorted out at the time, so I feel like I didn't really get to take full advantage of it.
I haven't used any of the LDCs, although I've always been keen to try one. I'd love to get the MKII or GZ47fetV in here sometime. Every sample I've heard is super convincing and it seems like you'd have to spend a lot more to get anything that's objectively "better."

I haven’t used the SDC, but have a MKID and a GZ251 fet. Both are excellent mics that hold their own against anything else I’ve got. The MKID in particular has been a workhorse for me, pretty much always on a stand for random overdubs. I’ve also got a Serrano 87, which is also a U87 clone. The Serrano is more hifi and smooth while the MKID is darker and thicker. Neither ever need much fussing in the mix.

I've used a lot of 3U mics. I'm just as much a fan of them as I was when I first heard them (which prompted me to sell off some other, more expensive stuff). My pair of MKID are workhorses, always up on stands.

Interesting side note, I just heard that Stam uses 3U capsules by way of Braingasm Labs!

I didn’t mean it as a dig against Stam. I think my 3U mics are great! I’ve got a pair of their GZ47fetV.

Braingasm is a division of Behringer, right?

Pretty sure Warm uses Guosheng’s capsules as well, or at least did at some point.
I have some MKIDs and Cm127 C flats. They’re fantastic, and when you consider the price they’re no brainers.

I've owned a few (2x MKIDs and 2x 127s). I didn't like the loose-feeling build quality (I shimmed the bodies of the 127s because I noticed they rattled a bit when handling them during unboxing), but that's the only really bad thing I have to say about them, and I don't imagine you'll find much better for the price paid.

I appreciate the dude’s honesty and transparency. A *lot* of people use Guosheng’s capsules (which I already know sound great). Most are cagey about it though.

I really like my 3U mics. Do you think that 3U capsules can compete with Neumann capsules? So, when someone claims that their mic sounds identical to something like a U67, but are using 3U capsules, do you think this claim has any merit?

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Serrano 87 is using them now. Based on his description that the QC is much better in the new capsules, it's sounds like 3U-level work. …and, if so, great!

So, when someone claims that their mic sounds identical to something like a U67, but are using 3U capsules, do you think this claim has any merit? I had a GZ67 FET at some point, didn't sound exactly like a U67 because y'know it isn't a tube mic but I didn't have any complaints about it. Did the Neumann thing well enough, no brittle top, smooth, not overly inflated sounding and collectively it was a solid mic. I got rid simply because I was looking for a vocal mic and I preferred the U67 and ISK 2B (at the time at least), although I remember liking the 67FET more than the U89 and U87AI.

Mk1d annoyed me that the back and front capsules were no where near close in sounding similar. Maybe it was an earlier batch when quality wasnt as consistent. He was a nice guy to deal with though. Prompt as well.

I highly suspect my Warm 47jr has a 3U capsule. Similar/same to the MKII.
With the funky circuit Warm paired it up with... IMHO sounds best on fuller mid range vocals (It has a mid range scoop in response)
Thought it did a nice job, on the practice vocal below... Chris

In their price range probably the most consistent in terms of build and sound quality.

Well, the Warbler MKIII arrived Friday and I finally got a chance to give it a quick test. I have very little to compare it to but its a really nice sound. Open, lush and airy without any brittle top end. I'm thrilled with it. If this is event sorta close to an AKG C12 sound, I can only imagine how great the real thing sounds.

Clips or it didn't happen. LOL! I just found out (this is real BTW) that in Oak Stock, Ohio in May... Yes there is a Warblerstock Festival!! So maybe people can take their Warblers, and record Warblers! Might be a fun trip, if you've felt couped up. Chris
