I'm curious how the UA 175b and 176 are working for the gang here.
I hesitate to simply demo plugs because I've often not needed them for a few weeks and it expires, or I figure out too late I really don't use it much, if at all.
At least 3/4 of my UAD plugs go unused. Massive Passive, Helios Preamp, API 2500, Studio D Chorus, AKG BX20, Neve 1073 Pre & EQ, Pultec, EL7 Fatso, rarely see the light of day.

The 176 is an amazing compressor when you want to very cleanly spank something REALLY hard and "park" it in a mix. The 175 is a TOTALLY different beast! it does a super cool retro, spitty thing that parks but also pumps a bit and also acts as a partial DeEsser in the process! They both get daily use here.

Probably my favorite UA compressors (though the LA-2 gets a lot of use around here). I use the 176 as a limiter following something slower, and the 175 is just a glorious crusher.

I absolutely love the 175-b on vocals and acoustic and electric guitars, can get nasty for sure but also capable of more subtle sounds.

Yeah - I like the 176 on vocals. Really kind of anything. I use it on Drumbus occasionally if I want to hear some breakup. Also use the 175 on Drumbus in parallel if I want a really dirty crushed thing. Although, I tend to prefer the Chandler Zener for that more often.

I should really use them more …
but what I do often is use the 175 to crush snare bottom with a long release to get a longer, more energetic snare sound. The saturation is really nice.
