"Nigel" 4 channels of reamp either unbalanced 1/4" or balanced mic level XLR, switchable switchable 16 or 24 channels of analog summing on 3 DB25s, with selectable transformer, or capacitor coupled outputs It really does sound better than DAW summing to me. I am hearing the depth, width, and space around individual instruments people are talking about. No turning back for me now! This was a missing piece I didn't know how much I needed, and it was a fun project. I love subtle but big improvements like this. Next move will be to try an actual mixer, but this one's sounding very nice.

Interesting. This should probably go in the DIY section.. And also, you should think about using shielded cable..

It was subtle at first , but then I started hearing it when I would A/B back and forth . It was like a "wide" button is switched , the low end got more solid and deeper as I switched back and forth . The mix got overall bigger . For not having to do ANYTHING but sum the tracks OTB , well its a no brainer what I'm gonna be doing from now on . The Nigel probably sounds even better with those transformers . Only problem is every time I read Nigel I think of this guy ,

I'm not having any noise problems with it unless it's very close to a computer. It's actually very quiet. I attribute any noise to the unshielded transformers. A mu metal shielded Cinemag, Carnhill, etc, would be an overall more optimal choice.
Moderators can move my thread if they wish but I posted it here because this is where I wanted it posted. Thanks. I like this forum more when it's friendly and small, not a big fan of bickering.

Indeed there is that... hahaha. Also agree with your observations about width and depth.

Nice job on your rig Guitar svarts recommendation of shielded wire is a good one imo also, wouldn't worry unless you hear noise though

The shielding I speak of is more for crosstalk issues inside the box rather than noise ingress into the box from the outside. The metal box itself is essentially a big shield and will work for keeping out most EMI/RFI.

Oh by the way, yes, the transformer outputs do add a certain amount of mojo, what have you. Subtle, but you notice it.
