Hi Fella's, I'm real close to finally having to pull the trigger on new DA conversion, at this point the best sounding configuration i can come up with for my rig is... A to D BLA FM Digi 002- after multiple comparisons, the AD of this little rig is just awesome, it gives me 10 simultaneous ins, and will have to do until something bigger, and more importantly, better comes along. I do not believe i'll exceed 10 ins at any given time anyway, so this should serve me very well. D to A this is what it looks like right now, 4 Ross Martin 8 channel AES DA converters(32 outs) feeding my 32x8x2 console, the DA chips, dynamic range, and noise floor are spectacular on these units, and i believe nothing will touch them in the price range from what i can tell? Going to clock with a BLA Clock INTERFACE CARD?I'm looking into this www.rme-audio.de/en_products_hdspe_aes.php the problem is, it's only 16x16, which means i'm looking at 2 purchases to reach 32 outs!..mehhhh! big $! Does anyone have any advice, or know of a quality PCIe card that will fit this 32 I/O configuration? O r at least 32 channels DA out ONLY? i plan to never exceed 96K/24bit conversion rate. thanx for any info or help T

You need a PCIe card?

Yes, the RM stuff is just conversion, need a card/ clock to interface the units, I may end up with his AD's in the end also?

You're going to use your console for summing only? you'll never track live with more than 8 channels, out of the 32 available?

I'll totally track with it, just max 10 AD's at a time on the 002, it's a short term solution that will give me 32 DA's that are tops IMO, and AD(although limited track count) that is as good as it gets for around $4.5k, also keeps the door open for new and possibly better AD Down The road?

Why not just get an antelope orion for 2500 or so used and run that until something better comes along. Will the drop off from your 002 rig really be that significant? I'm sure that you could get more than adequate results with that type of system.

I'm sure that you could get more than adequate results with that type of system. I shot out some stuff including the Orion , wasn't what I was looking for, besides this, that price for the RM's and what they are is amazing IMV, Orion uses one chip per 8 channels, the RM is 1 per 2, and has an individual power supply for each card, the noise floor and dynamic range are as good as it gets, the Orion's spec is not that good, that one chip per 8, hurts headroom specs, and 32 channels of kinda quiet, end up kinda loud ime. Ultimately, If I can't see an expandable future for the RM set up, I may end up with an Orion in the short term?
