The new PSP Impressor impresses me. This compressor is awesome. It's only an opto style thing, a soft varimu, or a smash varimu but it's super flexible and impressive. I like it more than MJUC and Neold v76u73 for mix duties already. It's surprisingly good on drums. The styles are all either 2 or 3 to one, or one to infinity ratio with various knees.
Equal power loudness curve like API THRUST is very cool. The auto attack and releases lower distortion drastically. 16x oversampling of the sidechain should be enabled when smashing. This eats CPU but the action is amazing.
This is another great PSP plugin.

I was actually curious what you thought of this one. I bought it when it came out on sale. I haven't dug in much but, good to know it is favorable!

New version fixes the delay compensation and drastically lowers distortion from the auto attacks and releases. Yeah I started using impressor on this record where the production is different track to track. Different sessions every track. Drums were literally one sdc pointed at the kit with a bass or rhythm guitar too into a Tascam 424 because black metal and the other tracks were used for guitars and vocals. first track, was rhythm guitar and bass. Izotope RX separation didn’t work. I don’t have Acon Acoustica. So I boosted the hell out of 200 hz. and 4khz or so where the snare wires were, big scoop at 1khz to reduce guitar, and used Nova GE as a single band expander with the threshold automated to get the hit outs. Molot GE towards sigma (maybe 100%), radiate auto release, 4:1, harder knee, slower attack, ruled on the kit. Faraday Limiter was too nasty in the highs and brought up too much room and Presswerk too random and not doing much. Vulf was cool but too lofi. second track, the title track, was bass and the kit. Izotope RX worked. Molot I wasn’t feeling. Added punch but cymbal wash got nasty because Izotope shitty artifacts. Presswerk was similar but brought up the room too much even on fast release. PSP Fetpressor sounded lofi. Kush Silika just like a clipper and the last thing I need. PSP Impressor did the job. Sounded huge on sharp knee and feedback with slower auto attack or slower attack as I played around with it last night.

Does it do AGC ? I'm a huge fan of MJUC in HQ mode with AGC on. My no1 used ITB track compressor on bass / keys and vocals

There is an unusable bug where it does not save your 16x sidechain oversampling in the session right now. I'm reporting it to PSP and going back to Presswerk or Molot for this track.
This is a fabulous sounding plug that needed to be beta tested more.

PSP Impressor is on sale for 29 dollars right now but they still haven’t fixed the 16x oversampling bug. It still sounds good.

Hey Dan. Been a big PSP user since one came installed with Cubase 2! I have a few PSP comps. Is this all that different or better to justify the purchase? The sale ends today.
