In the same vein as the other thread "what artist/band do you not get..", how about a thread for those guilty pleasures that you don't really want your friends to know that you listen to?
I'll go first..
30 Seconds to Mars...

I think you should re title the thread to "the moped thread". Thats a nickname for a girl you like to bang, but she's mehhh, so you call her your moped, fun to ride, but you don't want your friends to see you on it! lol
Mine would be ABBA and the BeeGees, though i could give a shit less who knows i like them 8)

No need to be ashamed of listening to the Bee Gees, T. They did amazing stuff. Listen to Main Course or Odessa. All the early stuff was great. I didn't like the Saturday Night stuff, but with that, they pioneered disco, they were always inventive. Abba, on the other hand... . Well, Frida was very sexy, back then. My guilty pleasure? I don't know, maybe Slash, he gets so much flak, but I like him. Never liked GNR though. Anyway, I listen to what I like and don't give a rat's ass about what others think.

Manheim Steemroller
Don't ask me why. Must have heard some of their stuff when I was a baby tucked safely in mothers arms or something.

If the ability to cause illicit groans and eye-rolling counts...then Phish.

Kanye West. That man is a genius. Whatever else you might think about Kanye, he doesn't stink as a recording artist. Guy's talented.

Def Kanye for me too...think I put that in the rapper thread. Katy Perry too. Pop magic. And the mixing is pretty incredible.

I'm with you on the Katy Perry stuff too. Dr. Luke really nailed it. He didn't work on her new album though right? I think he now has an exclusive deal with Sony (perhaps?) and she is with someone else. Could be wrong though. A ton of this pop stuff would apply to me though.

Also, Lana Del Rey. Can't get enough of her stuff. Pre-ordered the new album.

I'm a big David Hasselhoff fan. No joke. I own most of his CDs. My friends all know so I really don't try to hide it.

it's embarrassing, Kenny g My own weak spots are a lot of the really slick smooth stuff that David Foster and Jay Graydon produced in the 80's/90', like Al Jarreau etc.

"...like for instance Kenny G. I mean you know, there is nothing more stupid than that, lets face it. That's the dumbest music there could ever possibly be in the history of human beings."
Play "Donkey" for him and see if he apologizes to Kenny G.

I agree, it's unfair but, even though I sometimes like smooth jazz, I think it's entertaining to see this outburst from one of the giants in jazz/fusion. :DWhen I found out about this interview I believe the clip included talk about Kenny G's release of himself overdubbing Louis Armstrong's classic recording of What a wonderful world, which upset a lot of people. Perhaps that explains the harsh words.

I'll go first.. 30 Seconds to Mars... 30 Seconds To Mars is a great band, love the stuff they do. I'll add a list, Kesha, Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan, Owl City, Jonas Brothers. There's a lot of stuff that I genuinely enjoy that most cool kids would be very quick to thumb their nose up at.
