Lynx Avid HD Burl Antelope Aurora You keep finding those in every pro studio. For the most obvious reasons. I keep finding Apollo's in pro studio's, must be different over here.

I think Wards idea of pro is a large scale room with SSL, API, Neve etc. you just don’t see them as much. My 2 cents, if I was going to make a move to a new interface I would probably jump on either AVID HD native, HDX or Carbon, unless you’re going with a Burl, 2192, or Lavry Gold the difference is going to be small, but for many the reduction in latency is priceless.

These days the best interface is the one that best simplifies the workflow. I use MOTU now since it has all the I/O I needed without a bunch of extraneous patching and extra gear. All-in-one.
With as much processing as I do to the tracks I don't see the benefit of spending a lot more money for a few % of difference at the A/D level. A few dB of compression, saturation or EQ will immediately negate the functional fidelity differences between converters.

Most analogue gear will heavily impact specs by simply being in the chain, especially vintage stuff.

And ultimately I came to the conclusion that sitting tight with my 828es was the correct move. No need to chase after something that doesn’t need chasing.
