Hi fellas, anybody has a good recommandation for a portable one-piece stereo speakers? lightweight, decent wattage, battery-powered is a + next month my control room is rented out most of the time, so am on forced time off that, and in summer will travel a bit for holidays and business so I was thinking putting the 30+ apps I frenetically bought on iPad -for when I'd have some time- to work, it seems that time isn't too far ahead already looked at consumer items, but am not into design stuff that is expensive ( and has almost no pro audio users review ) thanks, regards Nico

Hi Donr, thanks for the link, they look pretty good, price is well..one of those design pieces I think I found exactly what I need for half less money : www.ikmultimedia.com/products/iloud/* has a built in irig for guitar/microphone input ( no need for additional soundcard!) * great range over bluetooth * stereo 40 Watts * only little heavier than 1kg * same size as an iPad only 6 cm deep * battery powered for between 3-10 hours heading over to the shop to try one tomorrow, I know I don't expect much regarding bandwidth, precision or depth vs my ATC mains, but from what I've heard it will be perfect to compose, record basic vox and guitar tracks, even throwing a little bbq party out in the open regards Nico

I have the iLoud here at the moment, in my opinion it's overpriced :/ Should probably return it

Yes indeed price is not the cheapest
Tried it today in my living room ( +/- 350 sq/ft ) and it sounds impressive for a little plastic thingy!
anywhere in the room could hear the bass and bassdrum loud and clear , highs are well defined and not harsh, just forget about stereo image: only works upclose.
Bluetooth has a nice range, although at highest volume I could hear some squeeky-gritty-digital noise, but at highest volume in your living room you'd have a hard time talking to people so not a big issue ( although I'd like to know if these artefacts are normal? )
I think I will use it as a third set of speaker in the control room as well, stepping in as a deluxe-ghetto blaster for reference
Actually I might even use it as a non-headphone talkback device for use in the live room. As I do mainly acoustic/jazz recordings, I always set up a mic via the audio interface ( MH with Mio ) so I loose a channel due to talkback, yet most sessions happen without headphones, so not ideal for verbal communication. The only obstacle I see is that the device must be connected to the iPad with an included 1/8" TRRS cable ( yes thats right two Rings ) so I don't know yet if I could use my patchbay from live room to control room with TRRS adapters?
regards Nico

I have the BOSE Soundlink II, it's boomy on the bass and placement sensitive. I don't think I could mix on it, but it's ok for listening.
It was hard to tell how the iLoud sounded, the demo music was just awful, no real instruments to give you some perspective. How do real instruments sound on it?

yes donr : the demos were put up for volume/range comparison with other speakers listened to a Chopin prelude ( modern recording ) and Duke Ellington's Money Jungle and it sounds surprisingly good, only a bit boxy in the 200-300 Hz range, imho piano recordings only sound like a piano on large speakers listened also to Brazilian singer Ceu, album Vagarosa ( song Grains de Beauté especially ) and it's impressive in the bass/kick department, has a weight that you wouldn't suspect for such a device. Vocals sound sweet, top end is not harsh so far, I am liking it a lot wouldn't say I'd mix on it, although it is more detailed than I expected, but for portable quality listening/ on-the-road composing it is really good regards, Nico

uh? really !? in what container do you use it for making it sound ? for this price, might get one just to test...however when I first read vibration speaker, I thought it might be related to a " neck massage device "
