well, i use either the bluetooth keyboard that came with my mac and hit "R" to record SPACEBAR to stop and ENTER to go back to the top of the song.
Or I use my iPad with the LOGIC PRO X app. Which is really cool.
In fact the other night I had it set up for the drummer who came in, and he could watch the iPad scroll across and the MARKERS I had put in defining VERSE CHORUS SOLO etc would tell him what section was approaching.
cheers

I use DP's wifi iPhone Remote app, it's great. I used to use a Microsoft bluetooth keyboard. You could also get USB extension cables, I've gone about 20' with no problems.

lmao, it's like i'm the last guy standing there with a Members Only jacket on, does everyone use these apps? LOL my iPad app is actually made by apple for LOGIC PRO X... so if you don't run logic, no point. Before all this wireless stuff, I ran a ALPHATRACK with a 5m USB lead. cheers Wiz

The remote app I use is iOS but only works with Digital Performer. That one that was linked above would probably work for you, no? lmao, it's like i'm the last guy standing there with a Members Only jacket on, does everyone use these apps? A simple Mac keyboard with a long cable? That's what I use. Why does it have to be wireless?

so i picked up the one i linked earlier for $9.99, it works really well! it's very simple, works off wifi, not blue toof, and does exactly what you'd want it to, and not much more, you can even set in/out punches lickity split!
so far i dig

Why does it have to be wireless? hi LT! we posted almost simultaneously, i record in a couple different rooms, this is really ideal at this point, doesn't even flinch from 40' away! and it was $9.99! i'd pay more than that for a long cable i think?

The v-control pro is awesome! I checked out the demo's on this, it is VERY cool indeed, i'm OTB on most things, so i don't really need it, just the simple transport controls are cool for me.

Most good Daws have an app for your android or iphone. Protools does not last I checked.

Hmm. I don't use a wireless thing. I use Reaper and it has a fancy "punch in on selection" function, so you can highlight a section, and start recording, it won't actually record until it gets to the selected area and it will auto punch in/out. I usually just do the selection and start waaay ahead to give me time to get to the drums, put in the in-ears and get ready. Once it's done, I just go stop it and crossfade and glue the tracks into one.

Another vote for the Frontier Designs Tranzport. I've been using one since they first came out and still have not found anything I like better for what it does.

I no longer need to de headphone, go back to the desk and start everything all over if i blow a take, or if i don't like what i hear when i play it back, it has actually relieved me of some performance anxiety i was unaware i had.. lol.

Tranzport here since moving to the computer. The old Akai used those old (meaning even for when the Akai was released) ADAT LRCs, which weren't wireless...but, they were so plentiful and cheap I bought a bunch...spliced one to a long cable where it could go anywhere a mic cable could go in the studio. Tranzport kills it by actually having some control.
I own iThings...Cubase has remote apps...I simply don't have any interest in configuring them which would also mean putting my DAW on the network full time...ehh...plus--while it will start and stop....the Tranzport attaches to a mic stand....so...I would have to buy a $50-70 mic stand adapter else where do you even set the iPad? And then set it to not sleep...which then means changing that setting, since you DO want your ithings to sleep in general...Just a PIA...versus I think I paid $70 for the Tranzport and mic stand add on...I record. My studio isn't small. It seems like a solid way to spend $70.

Is that the app you linked to? It's not a hardware device? That app is Iphone or Ipad only. I own zero Apple devices, not even an Ipod. My computer doesn't have wireless of any sort either. It's a 12 year old pentium 4 mk1..
