Guys, this fellow Mark Payne has explained this whole "issue' of SSD write / swap memory degradation in a technical yet understandable way which is well worth a look. Hint: there's little to worry about. Enjoy.
Cheers, Ross

It seems that Apple released a fix for this. Apple said it was simply a "data reporting issue". Techs have determined that they also quietly fixed a real over-utilization issue for RAM/SSD data swapping (also called caching) and that it was not just a "data reporting issue".

Interesting, but his analysis in the video indicates there was no real problem on his machine . No reason to think his machine is atypical and we could all test our m1 machines to confirm.
I’m not saying no one had a problem but curious how prevalent it really was rather then a tempest in the internet teapot.
I have a 256g boot drive so will do the test to see.
But I bought my m1 mini used planning on selling it if apple drops a more powerful next generation mini.
