So I take it that the degradation slider on the Pianoteq has no impact on what is recorded into the computer as midi?
In other words, if someone used Pianoteq during tracking, and then, during the mixing phase, wanted to take the recorded midi and play that back thru your sample library of choice, such as Keyscape, would the midi notes remain unaltered from that which came directly from the controller keyboard during tracking?
I ask because latency is always a concern with sample library VIs during tracking, and something like Pianoteq, which is modeled and not sampled, could be a nice tool to have for use during tracking, even if it gets replaced at a later phase. And if it sounds as good as some are saying, maybe Pianoteq would be good to use as the final sound too.
I just wouldn't want slightly flat/sharp midi notes (is this even possible?) that a sample library would be unable to play back or be confused by, hence my question above.

Yeah, degradation does not impact the MIDI at all. It’s a playback parameter.
Pianoteq’s microphone mode is pretty great. Selecting and position up to five microphones around (or in!) the piano, close open or remove the lid, and assign the individual microphones to multi-outs offers a lot of flexibility.

That's what I figured. I was wondering how the midi could even be altered in such a way. Good to know that the degradation is just a playback parameter.

Pianoteq packs are on sale right now. What do you all like for indie rock/pop mix? Either of the Steinways plus the U4 and you’re set. Electrics are good too if you don’t have that covered elsewhere. U4 best upright out there if you ask me.

Been looking at either the B or U4. Steinway B isn't different enough in my opinion to make it worthwhile. U4 will give you a flavor you don't have. I have both Steinways though so maybe I'm a hypocrite!

Noticed this sale too. Might finally pull the trigger, but I’ve seen it on sale cheaper before.

I have EastWest Bosendorfer 290 and just picked up their Steinway D library. Love the Bosendorfer for most things and haven't used the Steinway yet.

yeah...I never bought it...but I'll occasionally pull up the demo and I think I like it more than anything I have. I just so rarely do my own stuff anymore - and when I do, piano is an afterthought.

I just purchased the Garrit Abbey Road CFX. I got the lite and then based on other reviews of the differences, upgraded to the full version. That is the most realistic piano vst I think I have ever played. The best I had before was Waves Piano Gold and even the lite version puts that to shame. It feels like I am sitting at a real grand piano. So good.
