i just dealt with trying to rid my browser of yahoo, and reset it back to google chrome for the past 1/2 hour, how on gods green earth does yahoo think by intrusively hijacking my browser that i'm going to do anything but HATE them??? I was unable to find any hidden files, i'm sure they are still there....
Im on mac, it's the first time this has happened to my rig since switching to mac many years ago, have i just been lucky? do all those ahole search engines do this hijacking thing?

Dude - I totally went through the same thing...
Click on the three little bars on the upper right of the google browser. Go to Settings then Search. X out all other browsers besides Google.

Yahoo search bar? It installs when you installed something else. Usually there is a little box during the install process that says something like "enhance your search with yahoo toobar" or something like that. They make it really small and not very apparent so that you'll end up installing it.

I think he's referring to yahoo taking over as the search engine in chrome...You open a new tab and Yahoo comes up automatically.

I use chrome and Iron, and I've never had that problem. The problem that I do have with yahoo is that the new yahoo mail doesn't work in chrome or Iron for me at home. None of the "fixes" I found online seem to work either. It works fine at work though. Strange..

I think he's referring to yahoo taking over as the search engine in chrome...You open a new tab and Yahoo comes up automatically. Nasty! That happened to me once. I forget what the intrusive little fucker was called but it was an ordeal to kill it! It was a careless install by me where I missed the prompt to not install the search program. |
