Well designed: they should post some clips.

Am I the only one that would never buy a preamp painted that awful purple/pink color?

Am I the only one that would never buy a preamp painted that awful purple/pink color? In the words of Patrick Star “ oh boy let’s party till we’re purple “

Call me biased but I’m more likely to buy audio gear from an older, scruffy looking English gentleman than from someone who looks like Steven Slate. 😁

Am I the only one that would never buy a preamp painted that awful purple/pink color? I dig it. Reminds me of old Apogee gear, which looked way better than the Woody Allen’s Sleeper aesthetic they and Apple have now.

I love the color, the rabbit, the name. I wonder what it sounds like.

There's an EQ too...all newly designed by the legendary Ted Fletcher (the fellow in the video.) Click HERE.

what i don't understand is how does a single slot 500 series eq process stereo signals.

what i don't understand is how does a single slot 500 series eq process stereo signals. The only real issue is I/O probably either uses TRS AS stereo unbalanced with shared ground or the Side chain input.

These look to be similar (or the same?) designs as some of his TFPRo 500 gear. tfpro.com/shop/It even has the stereo opto unit that’s coming soon on the Alice site. Depending on which items you were looking for, this might solve your color issues with the Alice line. Anyone have any experience with the TFPro stuff? Curious if they’re similar to any of the JoeMeek designs; which I remember seeing a lot of in the 00s, but never got around to using myself. The opto intrigues me!

Am I the only one that would never buy a preamp painted that awful purple/pink color? Maybe not the only one... But it wouldnt stop me. I actually kinda like it. Its so random but kind of endearing that an 80 year old legend chose such a wild color.

From what I gather the original old school Joe Meek stuff was British, rad, and vibey... then QC went out the window when the company was bought by PMI.

As far as I know, Ted Fletcher is still in charge of his own TFPpro product range though, designed and made in the UK (he was co-founder of Alice, and founder of both Joemeek and Orbitsound) - a fascinating man that I've met on several occasions when hosting audio technology panels.

Can confirm, hes still running Alice and TFPro, making both in the UK. Emailed with him this morning : )

Will this console have enough gain for music recording purposes? Will I have headroom?
Class A preamps and EQs, Carnhill (OEP) Input transformers. A push-button switch selects the required input (mic/line), and the continuously variable rotary gain control has a range of 50dB on mic. and 24dB on line.
All microphone inputs are transformer balanced and floating via a standard 3-pin XLR type female connector. The input impedance is designed for 200-ohm microphones, but will accept other types down to 30 ohms impedance. The minimum input level for 0VU output is -80dBu (approx.0.03mV); the maximum input level is -10dBu (approx. 240mV). If high levels are anticipated, attenuator pads should be used in the mic circuits.
