Finally let go of my TNC ACMP84s and went 500 series instead. Started building an SSL style channel strip with a pair of Link Audio SSL 4000 style EQs. http://instagram.com/p/CcCEU9aOLDU

Nice. I see some 19" slots just begging to be filled as well.

Nice. I see some 19" slots just begging to be filled as well. Trust me when I say this whole desk is full already. My wallet just hasn't caught up to my plans. lol.

Hello All, so it looks like my situation may be changing a little. The new space will include a space similar to what I have; 21āx17ā multipurpose room, but with 8-1/2ā ceilings for tracking as needed. I will also have a 14ā8ā x 12ā 6ā x 8ā 6ā room which will end up being the my main studio room; combo control room/recording space. I know that the general rule is to put the desk on the smaller wall with the longer area behind you, but how detrimental would it be to put my desk on the 14ā 8ā wall instead. It would make more sense to put it there in terms to the way the room is situated etc. I can make the 12ā 6ā wall work if needed, but I wanted to get some thoughts on it.

No thoughts?

whichever orientation allows the most symmetrical acoustic treatment would be my choice. have you tried modeling the projcted room acoustic response in REW in the two different positions? Maybe start there and see if you can even live with the longer wall orientation.

Maybe start there and see if you can even live with the longer wall orientation. That's not bad advice about the treatment. REW calculations look fairly similar once you add in the absorption. I may just need to play around in the space and see what I come up with. Facing the 12' wall will probably give me a better treatment scenario.
