Let's hope he really overbought.. the only issue i have with diy suppliers is that once they let their supply run out, they just get another batch in like it's a normal order, not accounting for the pent up demand, and then there is a run on the goods, leaving a bunch of folks high and dry for another huge length of time after they are ransacked.
I'm not saying capi is guilty of this, but I've noticed this happens a lot with other suppliers when there is long gaps between stock refills.

Nice, I've been wanting to try out the 312, just don't have much free time for soldering at the moment.

I can think of 2 specific times when i went to Jeffs site with the intent of buying, and things were out of stock. That said, i will be buying at least 4 more vp28's, Lc53a eq's, and a pair of missing links for the stereo buss, and then when the mythical Capi console arrives, i'm going to sign Jeff on as a joint holder of my bank account 8)

I'm considering selling my 4 ClassicAPI VC528s (Missing Links) that are V1 so I can replace them with 4 V2 kits, since they're finally in stock. Anyone interested?

What's the difference between v1 and v2? And how do I know which version I have?

That's what I was talking about. Back in december I wanted to buy a hairball kit.. They got something like 30 or 40 in, and started selling at 12pm EST. I put one in my cart and went to lunch since someone was waiting on me. I came back 45 minutes later and they were ALL gone. It was like another month before they had them again.

Keeping things in stock is the biggest battle I have. I have to depend on so many venders that sometimes move at their own pace. It can be very difficult and very frustrating at times. Johnkenn, let me know what you want and I can make sure I bring it with the week of the 18th.

It's not all about the inventory. I am in solid financial shape and have more buying power than many of the brands you see at GC or VK. It's kind of a joke when I hear how little some of what we think are big names in audio buy/sell. We have been thru a few winders and are pushing them past what they can supply. My last order of 2623-1 outputs was over 3 weeks late. It's hard enough when there are 6-10 leadtimes with many parts but when they are 3 weeks late on top of that? Dang. Not a lot I can do about that except switch suppliers. That is a slippery slope in itself. I would rather keep getting a solid part that I can count on (physically/electronically) than switch and uncover an entirely new set of problems!
I am just about running at max capacity as far as filling orders. My wife has been helping me with sorting resistor, capacitor and most all misc parts kits but I often spend everyday, all day long packing orders. I don't mind it but it leaves no time for R&D. I sometimes cycle things out of stock so I can get some other work done. Final assembly and testing of the Heiders is another thing that takes time.
What I really need are some minions to help pack my orders and do the day to day BUT, I have been there before with employees and I'm not looking to go back there anytime soon. I run capi from my home and do not want anyone coming and going everyday. One of these days that will change but not in the near future!
These are the best problems to have. I am a blessed man! Now, I gotta get some orders out!

Here's a good example. I ordered 1k pc of the 3-50 clear pointers on March 11th. I need them for the VP28 kits. My order confirmation shows a 3-4 week delivery time. It's May 7th and I still don't have them. I called yesterday and was told they are having some machine issues and weren't sure when they would ship! I see 3 options. I could change knob styles? Not gonna happen! I could go to China like the other guys do? That way I could greatly increase my profits by saving on the knobs and raising my prices to my customers? Not cool and many levels. Not gonna happen. Door 3 is wait and be loyal to the company who created that knob in the first place. I just hope they hurry the heck up!!!

I've purchased in the neighborhood of 35 listed items from CAPI so far, it has to be in the 10s of thousands of parts, and every time I get down to the last piece of assembly, I shake my head and say "how does jeff not miss a single friggin part?" Now multiply that x all his customers, It's truly remarkable a one man band can pull off what he's doing, and that's not even mentioning his design work!
