Hi guys, just a head up for everyone, who hasn't got it yet to make his own mind about this DAW/emulated Harrison 32 console. The cheapest sale yet. Even i paid twice as much and it was silly cheap. I found mixbus to be excellent sounding, DAW part may need some time to get into (Ardour), but in my opinion worth it nevertheless. On Sale here: www.rspeaudio.com/NO-BRAINER-DEAL-Harrison-Mixbus-p/no-brain-harrison-mix.htmBest regards, Martin

Hi Anton, yes, i use it once in a while for mixing only. I mostly do my stuff in Sonar (X3), but i like the "less plugins, more oldschool mixing" approach. I use it more often since i found out, that i get mixes working faster with less effort by working "just like analogue mixing", with a limited number of busses and effects... I love the harrison sound, i just found out 2.5 gives me much better vst integration than the previous ones (win only) and i am looking forward to the next project i will throw into it... I was amazed how well thought the console view is, i find the eq's great sounding and easy but flexible to use, i really enjoy the track and bus dynamics - dead easy to set them right and good sounding. I even use the leveler often, not only limiting or compression, just works. Simplicity for fast, good sounding results, i guess this is why i like it. Hard to make it sound bad - gain staging is very easy if you are used to analog or learned mixing in the analog days....headroom, saturation and clipping i find work just as you would expect it. The K-metering is nice to keep your mixes healthy. Also, i find the UI quite intuitive, maybe it is easier for me because of the Sonar experience, beeing different from what you use, Anton? I don't know, but it took me ~20 sec to figure out how tempo-markers work....right click directly into the "Tempo" ruler in the track view above the tracks and click "New tempo". Set bpm, bars and beats, done. I guess i'll get another license for my brother, he has birthday on 15th, when the sales offer ends...a harrison for everyone.... Best regards, Martin

PS: To set the *overall* project tempo and measure, right click on the leftmost red marking of the meter and tempo rulers, and voila, you get what you probably wanted to set....

I wanted to do all work in Reaper and then import stems to mixbus for final levels. If you like it that much then it's worth it to spend some free time learning the fastest way to import stems and then mix. also how the automation works. It does look very well laid out. Thanks man!

@ henge, Importing stems is very easy btw... Just create a new session. Click "Session", "Import" in the menu. Navigate to the stem folder in the popped up explorer/options window. Mark the wave files you want to import with the mouse. Or click in the files list and press shift+A to mark them all. Click Apply or OK, and if you used the standard options, you get one track per file, named like the filename, converted to the session's samplerate and bitdepth format, if needed. Done.

I couldn't help myself for $19.95 so I just purchased an hour ago, received by download link and license. I was surprised how easy it was to get up and running. The glass of wine probably helped. Just drug in a few wav files from a pro tools 11 session to play around with it. It sounds really good and seems pretty intuitive.

I tried it. All thumbs on this end. Can't figure out how to setup hardware inserts. That's a no go for me.

Since everybody has the same things in mind for mixbus.... like mixing stems, using external inserts,... this vid sums up external inserts excellently in 4 minutes.
What confuses first is the naming of the Jack inputs and outputs. Depends on your hardware config and what the underlying system driver is forwarding to jack (the order of inputs and outputs). Took me some time to find out what is what, too. Trial and error. Once you got that, it's as easy, as in other DAWs...
Best regards, Martin

But i watched some tutorials that @smallbutfine suggested and that helped. When your used to a certain workflow adopting a new workflow is like a kick in the head.

Oh, thanks warren. That completes the console with a verb and delay. From what i can see and hear on the demo vids, i like them. Got them. Might be useful. For linux install maybe. And as another unique feature/sounding duo...

Just got an email for 80% off their plugin essential bundle. $10 for the bundle until May 10th Is there a link to get that deal ?? I'd like to get those Plugins for $10 ! So far I'm loving Mixbus2 . Coming from Pro Tools I can see they modeled a lot of it after Pro Tools . I tried many times to switch to Reaper but I just couldn't , its just so different from PT . Like the Playlists , loop record.........I'd get stumped and couldn't figure it out . But Mixbus2 has the same playlists setup as PT and many other features . Its kind of a PT rip off but I love it that way !

I had the opposite experience being a Reaper guy!!;-) Great that the PT guys can get comfy with it quickly. Still haven't used it!

speaking of reaper, was this while looking for their plugin video Thanks , that video is cool . Mixbus sounded REALLY good when comparing it . I didn't think it would sound THAT good . Sounds very analog , like older classic albums .
