www.google.com/amp/s/www.thewrap.com/sly-stone-wins-5m-in-lawsuit-against-ex-manager-after-period-of-homelessness/amp/Was listening to the album with Everyday People yesterday and wondered why I never noticed how incredibly impactful that music must have been. After hearing that album, wow.. It’s hard to for me to believe Sly isn’t as popular as say Rolling Stones. So I did a Google search.. perfect timing! I guess he’s been out of the royalty game for a long time, was even living in a van in a crap part of LA for a bit. Looks like he’s finally getting some money. It makes sense Sly was irresponsible with his rights and money, etc ok.. but there are Lots of stories of talented cats being left out of any lifelong payments, yet the record companies been doing great. I know some OTHER totally unrelated major band’s member who was singing backup on a famous track we all know, I hear his voice every time it comes on.. and he says he wrote that part. Got zero credits of any kind for making that band huge, and really it was 25%+ his sound that made them so big… he was literally driving a beat up old geo metro when I met him. Hadn’t seen those cars in ages. The record companies should at minimum kick down a little something out of saying thanks, jeez. Shoot.. split off a sliver of their portion doesn’t have to be a full point., just something ..anything.
