I have a feeling I am going for things that most people are going for with acoustic guitar. Much of a bluegrass bands backbone relies on the power in the acoustic guitar. Most people here are completely losing that bottom end detail to fit with rock drums and other related instruments, so our sounds and needs are very different. I do quite a bit of country stuff as well and treat them as completely different instruments.

This is a pretty good example of the role acoustic guitar plays in an acoustic band like this that I tend to record often. I believe Gary Paczosa did this recording and those are KM-54's on Rice's bone Martin. If you were to take that guitar track out, the band would sound quite empty from 100hz to about 350 and the sting of the rhythm lives just above 1K. It is a powerful sound all by itself. With country tracks, I have the shing happening close to the hi-hats and the body high passed much higher to make room for the mountain of everything else in the mix.

Yep. I have had every one of them in my studio at one point or another with the exception of Tony. I hope he will make it over sometime.

He got to enjoy working on music row when producers and labels actually made records and took their time to create a unique sound for each of their artists.

Song are supposed to sound different? BTW - won't be long until you call a label and they just say, "Record Label, how can I help you..." The majors are all eating themselves.
