Hi folks, As my back continues to get older, I realize I've got to improve my guitar seating. The 24" stool that once was great is now a bit too high, with no backrest. So I wonder if those of you who play classical/steel string or don't use a strap have had some luck with guitar chairs. I need adjustable height, a backrest (adjustable is a plus) and a bit of padding. An adjustable footrest would be a plus but not a necessity. I see a few such seats online and a few drum thrones that might work. I'm not sure the "motorcycle seat" style would work for me, though. One way or another, I've got to get that bend out of the back when I play.
So have any of you folks found something you like enough to recommend? Thanks much!

I ended up grabbing a round drum throne with backrest. Pretty comfortable, with room for my legs to move around. There was a peculiar Gator guitar seat available, but the more I looked, the clunkier it got. Biggest problem with a drum throne these days is that it's getting harder to find a basic round seat--most of them are saddles or motorcycle seats. At any rate, this one doesn't squeak and it's adjustable and reasonably compact. We'll see how I feel about it in a year or so.
I went through a lot of seats because I can get neck and back irritations. Sold and returned a few different seats and thrones until I got a "SoundSeat". That was about 5 years ago and I rarely every think about seats anymore now because the irritation has left. It's a combination of the ergonomic shape along with the materials used. I would definitely consider it "expensive", but it's paid for itself as I not only use it for playing, but it's become the seat I use for hours of tube testing, mixing, building, etc. Ironically, a lot of pro players put me onto this thig but I was never going to spend that money on a seat. Then, after wasting money trying various other seats, I ended up spending the money. Thankfully, it feels the same as the day it arrived so it worked out pretty well. I paired it with a Gibraltar throne base, which I love.
