ingramengineering.net/products_mpa575.php
I just got the first one, guys! I have some clients in today but will have time to play with it tonight. I bet this little channel strip is gonna be great! I already use his MPA685 extensively and it is a wonderful preamp. This new channel strip is built with the same mindset behind his MPA685 regarding preamplifier tone. I look forward to digging into the way this thing works. Congrats to Ingram Engineering for being the first of their kind to build a single module 500 series channel strip that I know of.

So, I have had a chance to use the new MPA575 a bit the past couple days. This is definitely a nice piece of gear. The pre is clear, responsive and warm and sounds very much like the MPA 685. I have been using for quite a while now. With input and output stages, a hp filter that sweeps from 30 to 400, the combination is a nice slope for acoustic instruments and voice. The teeter-totter eq (they can't use the word "tilt" because Tonelux bought it I guess) works as imagined and can be placed before and after the compressor. The compressor, I am just getting used to. It can be heavy handed and a bit touchy for me. I am one of those guys much like Sweden, who prefers compression to be more transparent. Once I wrapped my head around it, I was able to get the light peak reduction I was after. These are so brand new that he is just writing the user manual now, so I was flying a little blind. Anyway, very much worth checking out to fill your racks, guys. I believe he said they will be under a $1000.00. To order. After trying it out, this one is staying in the rack here at Slack Key.

They will be at booth #560 at summer Namm if any of you are going and are interested in getting your hands on it. You can always come by my studio as well for a quick test.

A CAPI mixer loaded with these would be nuts. Too bad he can't squeeze a gate in there. Good value though for what you're getting if it sounds good, which I'm sure it does.

Eric,
Ha! I hear ya. Others have a way of doing that to me! In this case though, the Ingram 575 is a FULL channel strip in 500 series. Single slot! The first of its kind that I know of anyway.

The price is right for it as well. I have a pair and use them a lot. They are out on demo right now at another studio as I won't be using them for a bit cause I am in post up to my eyeballs. Peppers Pro Shop does have one on the shelf right now if you are interested. Blackbird rentals has one also if you are looking to demo one at all.
