Ha! Ok ok... Natural, open sounding. Totally effortless compression w zero artifacts. Note that the gain button is make up gain at the output. I'm mixing a lot of jazz and I've had the MC77 and this in series on double bass for quite a while now. A touch of mojo (that seems to help on small speakers) and control.

Prefer your Phoenix pair? What about your Shadow Hills stuff?

Hmm well on the other hand I don't know if I've ever felt that gear could be life altering or game changing. People use words as euphonic, three dimensional... sometimes I get the feeling engineers almost want to take credit for an excellent musical performance. Both the VT7 and the Phoenix are boxes that enhance one way or another imo. Oddly enough I don't know my SHMC enough to say.

Resurrecting the thread!
Just did a mix through one of these last night.......WOW. CLASSY. It just added this beautiful sheen to everything. Its not really something you can get to pump like an SSL or anything... it sort just turns to mush after 1-1.5dB GR, but man is the tone ohhhhhh so sweet!
That said... don't know if it's worth the big bucks (to me). Lots of gear can be had for $7500. Seems like a great piece for mastering folks, though.

It's in the classifieds here and on a Swedish site too. Got a PM today from a Swedish mastering site so maybe it's moving soon. I thought the super weak Swedish krona would make it an easy sell, but I don't know..
