I have honestly never miced the ride cymbal ! All I have is an extra 57 and I've heard that it can work ok . Wheres a good place to stick it ? I'm using Spaced Pair Overhead mics .

I've done it but rarely use it, mainly because I get tons of PING from it in the overheads.
If I were to need it, I'd start with a SDC about 1' above, about halfway from the bell to the edge. Sweep the mic back and forth until you get the balance of bell and edge tones you are looking for. Most cymbals have a sweet spot where the tones from the bell area and the edge sort of mix without a bunch of overtones. I'd also move the mic around based on how much stick attack you want too.
A 57 would probably be used in a similar way.

In a tight kit try micing the underside of the ride. Use it in live setups when the drummer insists on having the ride miced. Unfortunately every ride is different and every drummer is too. Just make sure you check phase with the OH. Last time I did it the mic was about an inch out from the bell and 6" away, pointed away from the drummer.
