Not sure if this has been posted about here, but the Arouser plug is on sale for $129 right now. I went ahead and bought it. Tested it with a project I’m currently working on and it does some neat stuff. I’ve got no experience with a distressor, but if this is similar I can seewhy people like it

I have loved it on acoustic drums for a long time. The new Opto mode is great on acoustic guitar and voice. Great plugin! The saturation also is particularly nice.
Have never used a Distressor either, but it's nice to have something similar from the same people who build them.

I have never gotten along with a Distressor. Even when using them, I feel pretty "meh". I've tried the tricks, and have used them on multiples sources. I just always gravitate to something else. It's not a knock on the product.
Oddly enough, I can see myself using the plugin version for harmonics, rather than having a unit in my room. I admit though... I don't care a ton about the GUI, but they did a great job on that one.

I LOVED this plugin before the update and it is now a virtual beast.

Is this better than a Distressor? I never liked that one. More plastic than nasty old digital.

I'm thinking about grabbing this from Plugin Discounts for $118. But I've already got the UAD Distressor. I have a pair of HW Distressors sitting in my rack. Thinking that between these two plugs, I could probably part with the HW. Is that blasphemy?

I've never heard either, but I am a big fan of Arousor, especially Rev 3.

The plugin does something instantly on my drum/bass buss the other plugins don't do. It comes alive in its own way. Can't explain it. Can't tell anyone it is great fidelity or not full of artifacts but I love what it does there. Just THAT was worth the price and now, it has the opt modes.

I previously owned a pair of hardware distressors. The plug in options do a great job but I haven’t found one to do brit mode so I do miss that option.
