Whats the general thoughts on the new Eric Church record?
I have mixed feelings about it. Not sure how to describe it. Some of the songs i really like, some i dont know. Its different. Im in 2 head spaces. Haha. Confused. Do like him as an artist.
Really like the production and "sound" of the songs "Dark side" and "Bring me back my hometown".

I like Eric Church, his records rock harder and sound ballsier than most all the modern rock out there. I'd count him among the artists who are doing quite well making modern sounding recordings. I don't even mind when he talks about pickup trucks and beer, 'cause his music is so good. The band burns.

I haven't heard it...but I've liked most of what Jay Joyce does.

I personally consider Eric Church a serious artist. Chief was an amazing record. Well written and all except for a couple of songs that ended up singles, against the grain type stuff. I've only heard the single on the radio but I like it.

I also really like Eric Church.
Some of the material on this album is just a tad different. Herbie like you just said against the grain. And then some is great. Well written and really well produced imo.
