I didn't wake up today thinking, "Man, I need another 1176 plugin," but something about Pulsar is a little bit interesting in general.
Think what I will actually buy soon is the IK Syntronik Deluxe upgrade since it's on sale for $29 right now. Those are some good sounding synth instruments.

But, Pulsar makes good plugs, is, I guess, the dilemma and this has some interesting features, 4 saturation’s, etc. ?

pa 59 vs 89 is if you already own pulsar. btw yu know when we talk about hardware vs software etc. ? This page has sound clips for the 1178, each example is dry, the real hardware, then the 1178. You really hear how the real hardware both compresses and adds more weight and with the 1178 plug, you hear that it is quick and accurate but is a little lighter, but this is a little clearer too, so could benefit mixing ? pulsar.audio/comp-1178/?YT=https://youtu.be/gpuncQ4Opvw#top-video-player

Pretty significant difference in the distortion characteristics of hw vs plug on that bass example

Pretty significant difference in the distortion characteristics of hw vs plug on that bass example I think I'll pass on this one based on the samples. Doesn't really have the life and vibe of the hardware in the examples.

You think too clean? The plug has 4 saturation levels: you assume they picked closest?

You think too clean? The plug has 4 saturation levels: you assume they picked closest? Not too clean in the plug example—just ugly and harsh compared to the hw Very brittle on the cymbals and it doesn't have the 3D cymbal wash of the hardware in the example. It also doesn't set the drum kit in place in the mix like the hardware, which is the primary reason to compress a kit beyond adding more snap and energy. It doesn't control the resonances and playing in the bass. The "metal snare" is a cover of Overkill by Motorhead and sounds awful with the plug. Everything bad about the hardware example is there but twice as bad.

Sorry guys, I like it. And €89 vs €3,000 and more is hard to beat.

The Drawmer 1978 is 1k. 10 bad plugs = one decent hardware piece. Molot GE is 50 bucks and no trash can.

This thing is the best trash can drums compressor itb now. Crank the oversampling And let it crush the stick into any metallic resonances. The bright saturation accentuates them and any cymbal wash.damn

I swear I paid for this and have nothing to do with Pulsar - but this thing just makes everything work.
