Showed up today and in a word:impressed ! Little wonder its called weight tank, once you feel the heft and its built like a ! Was very carefully bubble wrapped. Here are some pics : ibb.co/MBrdCG3ibb.co/chK4y6dibb.co/0Q4rRDkibb.co/DWbvMDFVery impressed with meticulous super clean build and parts quality, heavy duty switches etc. I have had la 610, Warm Tonebeast , 412 and 73 pres and the Dizengoff D4 REDD clone but wasn't certain what to expect sonically from the WT72. . First thing I noticed , is how quiet it is , so excellent S/N ratio. I have been mostly using the wa273eq, which has about 80db of gain: the wt72 is around 55db or so, so less gain. But I noticed the sound is this sort of leaner, yet textured and refined sound: hard to describe, but I liked it. I was using my new Sa 67 mkii. I am curious to see what the cumulatve effect of using this on multiple tracks is, clearer and more detailed mixes, I hope. Also keen to try the Di with bass! So, off to a good start.

The more you use it the more you'll love it! It's great on acoustic guitar. Here's a small sample I recently recorded using a Line Audio CM4 into the WT-72 with zero processing.

I thought so but I'll try again. I don't use Soundcloud very often. It works on my end. https%3A//soundcloud.com/lorne-entress/wt-72

My Soundcloud link works on my computer but not on my iPhone where it's printing out an incorrect link. I'll try it without using the Soundcloud button on RGO and just use the URL. WT-72

Thx, sounds great and nice drums ! Under the cymbal and dynamic mike’s ? That's my WFL kit but I wasn't engineering that session so I don't remember what mics they were! (about 10 years ago.) They look like 414s on the toms right? Not something I would tend to do!

was bored, had those photos, a nice bottle of cote du rhone and its -15 here: you know how it goes! see what you think ? I was doing a scratch VO into my mbp, but decided to keep it, even though its a little hissy, French red wine, the Chile on the stove and fresh french stick, may have affected that decision ! an overview video of the wt-72

Great build quality from those photos - I'm sure you're going to make some fantastic recordings with the W72.

Thx. A friend recommended some new bgd vox (ooh, ahs) on my current track. Fired up the WT72, Audioscape 76a and my Stam 67 mkii.
Sonics were just great and I just forgot about the new gear and just focussed on the performance and levels.
Oddly, we all love our gear, but really, we want/need it to just get out of the way and focus on the performance and getting the best recording!
When you invest in better quality gear, not exactly set and forget, but certainly easier to get really good tracks!

That feels like a tracking set up you wont be second guessing Kcatt ; as you say, just get on with the music and if it sounds average it's the human in front of the mic.......

Well, if I’m singing, it could still sound average, but let’s not go there !

Good day
Would you say the wa73eq is warmer? How would you compare them tone wise?
Cheers!

73 is Warmer in a way, but the 72, sounds more hi fi, still warm but a little more presence, smoother ( using no eq in either ).
Warm has more volume though.
