Looking for recommendations for an oscilloscope, mostly for tape recorder alignment. Used, analog, low cost......ok.

What's low cost?
There's no use in going to an old analog scope as most of those are starting to wear out and need service.
Also, is this just for audio, or digital work too?
50$ can get you a very minimal handheld scope. 150$ can get you something with a bigger screen and wider bandwidth. 200$-300 can get you a real digital scope.

Audio only. Couple hundred dollars is ok, I've seen some for a couple thousand $$$ Need at least x & y inputs from audio source to check azimuth on the recorders'heads.

Check out the offerings from siglent, hantek, instek and rigol. Their measurement/math operations should give you x/y but check the manuals of the scopes you're interested in and make sure.

Didn't have my glasses, lol Yeah, as Guitar noted, it's the 1202X-E It was $379.99 when I bought it but there's a discount offer right now: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XZML6RD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1Not the cheapest out there that would do what you want but still pretty reasonable for the feature set. I'm in the final year of an EE degree and I've wanted my own scope forever. When things went all remote because of the pandemic I decided to bite the bullet and get one. I have a year-long capstone project that would be pretty difficult without one and I don't have access to the labs at school. I chose this one because it's laid out very similarly to the Tektronix scopes I'm used to from school.

Ragan, that's awesome about your EE degree. Good luck moving forward with that!

I like having it even just for learning. I can spend hours on the most basic stuff. Just putting a signal through some components and figuring out on paper first what I think I should find at a given point and then looking at it on the scope and thinking about why I got it right/wrong. I dunno, actually messing with stuff (along side all the textbooks and homework) just helps me develop my gut-level understanding. I've had a lot of lab time over the last four years in school and I've so often craved time to just experiment. I got a little bench power supply too. I can generate signals from the DAW and voltage divide them down on the breadboard if I need.

Could you just use REW and your audio interface? It has a lot of stuff in it and you can calibrate it with your audio interface to make it pretty accurate I'd think.
