A few weeks back in the Serrano mic thread I had jokingly said the Grinch had shown up at my house and that had precluded me from snagging one of these mics to try out. The reason was my wife’s now former employer had unceremoniously kicked her to the curb after 18 years of service. After relocating us to Texas 3 1/2 years ago, the corporate climate began to change and she was the last surviving member of the North Carolina crew that came out here. Long story short, office politics did her in.
Fast forward to yesterday to where she accepted an offer from a company that bumps up her to the VP level with a roughly 35% increase in pay.
Our gratitude comes from the very clear understanding that there are a lot of people out there right now who are hurting. We easily could have ended up having to liquidate possessions etc. if we were not in the position we were in. It is really giving us pause.

Thank you for that post. It really resonated with me. Me and my wife have had some financial financial struggles ourselves, due to the quarantine. But this whole time I’ve really concentrating on how fortunate we are to have our health, to have the ability to live on one income, to get to spend more time together...etc etc. Im normally a very pessimistic person so practicing radical gratitude has been a real change for me. But I honestly feel great and don’t mind at all that she’s been out of work.
So thank you for your post. It’s nice to hear someone accepting the good in life, because none of us do it enough. And I’m happy to hear that you’re doing better than you were before, even though we’re essentially strangers, it’s encouraging none the less.

Corporations that treat people like that soon tumble and fall. When it's a corporation the value is in the stock price and bottom line $$. With a company, the value is in the people and the team they comprise, the synergy, what they make together and then the bottom line is healthier and more sustainable for the long-term. Karma will come around the for them both, for her former employer, and her new one!!

Glad to hear of that good outcome. Anything can be snatched away in a heartbeat. Every time I pull in the driveway I thank God for my health, my wife, the roof over our heads and the food on our table. Everything else really takes a back seat.
