but I listen to Oasis and think they’re a terrible Beatles tribute band. Wtf? Beatles/The Jam tribute band* I happen to think their 1st two records are fantastic. Does Noel Gallagher wear his songwriting influences on his sleeve? Sure, but The Beatles and The Jam are two of my favorite bands and I'm totally cool with there being more music like that wrapped up in a different aesthetic. Also: I happen to have the exact 1964 AC30 used on "What's the Story Morning Glory" sitting in my studio

I really liked when Gallagher would hit the watermelon, with his sledgehammer. (Not the Peter Gabriel song Eric)

Just watching a completely staged, lip sync’d Liam Gallagher on NYE on the Tonight Show...and it was as bad as I thought it would be. Why is Oasis so beloved? I don’t get it. The Beatles IMO are the end all be all...but I listen to Oasis and think they’re a terrible Beatles tribute band. Wtf? Oasis has always resulted in the same responsde from me: " GUYS - you are NOT The Beatles, never have been The Beatles, never WILL BE The Beatles, could you please just hang it up, already? Hell, you're not even Badfinger!" No matter what John? I actually_like_some 'ol Oasis stuff. But the Stone Rose's debut album is my fave outta Madchester. Chris

Class or (as in their case) NO CLASS, either way, they're WANKERS!

Class or (as in their case) NO CLASS, either way, they're WANKERS! I have to say I was really surprised to see the craze over Oasis tickets. To me they were just another 90s British pop band, I never realized how huge a fan base they had.

Where I grew up (nj with a view of the twin towers) it was an absolute must that you knew the 3 bigger oasis songs if you wanted to be in a band. Everybody loved them it seemed when the Morning Glory record was out.

Riiiight…correct me if I’m wrong, but they’re spoken in the same breath as the Beatles in the UK - like considered on the same level…Yeah, I don’t get that at all.

As a UK resident, I've never seen the Oasis attraction either, but I think this article explains the Beatles/Oasis comparison rather well: faroutmagazine.co.uk/did-oasis-really-sound-like-the-beatles/Also, they extend the comparisons to point out that Oasis were also 'inspired' by a lot of other UK acts: "It should be pointed out that while Oasis clearly mimic The Beatles in their discography, they also mimic countless other artists from the heydey of British music. This mimicry, after all, was the essence of their success. Indeed, for every Oasis song that sounds like The Beatles, there’s another that sounds like The Kinks (‘Lyla’), T.Rex (Cigarettes and Alcohol), or The Sex Pistols (Rock ‘n’ Roll Star’)." Martin

"Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government." Great film. I love The Pythons - my kind of humour.

You need to watch UK TV to understand why the "Brits" love Oasis (I like a couple of their songs)
