I have always had iMacs, as has the wife.
Thinking of Mac mini M1s when we update.
I have always liked the iMac monitor.
What should I consider that I need choosing a monitor if I go Mac mini?
I would like a display no smaller than 27 inch...don’t really need two monitors.
I am also considering Mac book air/pro as well....so Docks/Monitors with that.
cheers

I’m gonna do the same thing. I’ve got an old like 2013 27” Mac display that has been great. Trying to figure out why I’d need anything else.

It has 2 tb ports and a dedicated hdmi, if You will only run 1 monitor you don’t need a doc?
THe new oWC tb4/usb4 doc seems like a no brainer?

My wife and I bought used 27" Thunderbolt displays - I think we paid $250 for one and $325 for one. It requires at TB3 to TB2 adapter (and you do have to ask about condition - some have issues with the built in cable) but that's been how we've split the difference in the iMac's we loved and being able to use either Laptops or the new M1 with a large screen.
Obviously, the M1 is a new situation (I'm doing a clean install as I write) but this seems to be a nice way to try the new operating system, keep my 2015 MacBook Pro on the old stable system and see how things go.

I run a 2018 mini w/a Thunderbolt monitor. Not sure how hard they are to come by now, but they are rock solid.
For those with iMac's, you should also check on using that as an external monitor. As long as it's newer than the '07 iMac, you should be able to use it this way.

Gotta think about reflections in the room though as well. Food for thought.

Gotta think about reflections in the room though as well. Food for thought. Yeah for sure, that can happen w/ any monitor screen esp if not in an ideal spot. For 2 way forward firing monitors I see no issue w/ curved or non curved. Esp as it’s behind your 2 way monitors in an equilateral mix triangle there shouldn’t be any issue w comb filtering or early reflections. If you have a 3 way monitors like me w side firing woofers there isn’t much you can do. Was thinking I could wrap the curve around the back of the monitors if I got a big enough one. Either way my subs are firing into the screen b/c low freqs are omnipresent like ripples in a lake with a rock. Thanks

Will hdmi give you enough pixels, isn’t the Mac display much higher resolution ?
I run a 2012 mbp with an older 27 inch Samsung on hdmi. Will likely get an m1 soon, don’t need huge monitor but my older eyes want more detail than 1080 p over hdmi.
I get confused by all this:), but 4K monitors have hugely more pixels than my current monitors, will be on sale over Christmas, so the visual detail will be there over hdmi?
“ 4K Ultra HD with 3840 x 2160 native resolution (4 times the resolution of traditional 1080p HD) “

My lighting guy just picked up a 24" touch screen for $250 that he's using with his iMac, think I'm going that route when I get the new Mini.
Currently use a CalDigit Thunderbolt Station 2 with my MacBook Pro and run an LG 34UM58-P 34" UltraWide LED monitor off it's HDMI.

wiz and ChaseUTBI've got an LG 34" extra wide (non curved) in my home mix room and love it. I connect with a monoprice multiport dongle (via hdmi). Between that screen and my 15" mbp screen, I'm covered at home. I'll pop the edit window onto the 34 when chopping and editing, then swap the mix window over when mixing. Fits a bunch of channels. Love it.

Will hdmi give you enough pixels, isn’t the Mac display much higher resolution ? Not sure on the specs, but it's beautiful to use on a daily basis. Glass and all the stuff that goes into it are key, I'm sure.

I saw some where there is an issue right now with M1 powered macs and wide screen monitors. So repeat after me wait ! It’s with ultrawides, and Apple’s aware of it. There’s a third-party utility that one can use to circumvent the problem in the meantime.
