Just looked at it for 10 seconds, it looks like so many controls to manipulate and I prefer simple and straightforward. I don't use Slate's plugs anymore , even though I have a few, including the godawful mastering compressor he promised to update 7 years ago. Are there presets that sound good already? So do you put it on a lead vocal track separately, or on the 2 bus? I kinda only use the presets. I figure I’m paying $29 for his idea. If I need to tweak with syncing the delay then so be it.

A lot of these famous guy presets are great for guys starting out, it’s a very safe and far less intimidating than trying to dial something in. I have shared with Mr Kelly who spent a bunch of time At Presonus how I loved to sell there compressor that had presets to beginners. It wasn’t the best sounding box but you could try to dial it in and any time you got frustrated you could fall back on the presets. I look at plugins like this as the modern extension of this. If someone else’s presets work for you great, if they don’t l. They don’t. While few people will admit to this in the old days we all avatars own favorite presets, Hell I’ll admit after a famous producer rented our Lex PCM 80 I dumped everything he saved ( sorry that card disappeared with all my PCM 80 cards while I was in the hospital).

I love to start at presets on something I’m not familiar with. Pick the one that sounds good, then tweak it to where is sounds great.

Many have poo poo’ed these types of plugins, but I know a couple of guys on the purple site who ridicule them who bought the lexicon cards filled with presets from famous users.

So do you put it on a lead vocal track separately, or on the 2 bus? I put them on an aux. The thing about this plugin that is so different is that it’s a chain of effects, not just a single verb or delay. And that’s what makes the presets so good, they combine them in ways you might not come up with on your own (or at least I wouldn’t). And by the way, Eric is spot on, no one ever got flack for starting with an H3000 preset when using the hardware. I kinda get why people make fun of EQ presets, but some of the pultec ones are decent shortcuts too.

Yeah I didn’t take it that way. We’re saying the same thing. I know some people poo poo presets.

Yet almost every reverb box has had them, the difference some guy at the Factory did those, so some how those are better than some guy who actually makes his living using it, go figure 😜

I bought it 😁. There are a lot of plugs where I've demoed and just tried to match the presets I like with things I already have. For this one, it's worth the $26 to me just have that sound on call for drums and save the time.

The initial shine has worn off this one for me. I’ve been using GLOW lately for big dreamy verbs and gated drum sounds, and had that verb been available a year ago I think I would have gone that way from the beginning.

I still like it for less organic genres of music. On the more acoustic record I’m mixing now it’s not getting used. But, it’s already on an indie label release I did and, at $20 it’s definitely paid for itself!

Yeah - I still use it on acoustics... I haven’t even tried it there to be honest. Could be totally missing the boat.
