Hi everyone! You are hereby cordially invited to a gathering: An RGO Holiday Party Hootenanny! It will begin at 8:00pm Eastern Standard Time on Friday, December 18, 2020. I will be hosting the get-together via Zoom. If you don’t have a Zoom account, no worries! You don’t need an account just to join a meeting as a “Participant.” Here is the link to the virtual party: [link removed post-party] Generally speaking, these things aren’t too difficult from a technological standpoint. You can click on the link and do it through your web browser. Or, alternatively, you can download and use the Zoom application. You can use a desktop, laptop, phone, tablet, whatever. When you join the meeting, you will go to a “waiting room,” where I (as the host) will then let you in. You will be muted when you are first let in. You’ll have to umute yourself to be heard. General formatI hope everyone will feel comfortable sharing something at some point in the evening. To give shape to things, I’d like you to come prepared having considered two questions for yourself: - What is something I am grateful for from 2020?
- What is the piece of gear I got in 2020 that I’m most excited about and why?
Ground RulesI request two topics of exclusion: - No political discussion. This just isn’t the venue for political jokes or rhetoric of any kind.
- No COVID discussion/jokes - well, really I just want to avoid poking fun at or belittling others who may have different opinions than yourself. Presumably you all have friends with whom you can talk like that. This isn’t the place.

A shout-out to the other mark williams for taking the time and effort to put this together, and for being the consummate host and facilitator. Thanks as well to each of you guys who took the time out of your schedules and away from your families to share some laughs, common frustrations, impressive studio tours (gear is always on the menu), and a bit about yourselves and your musical journey. Can you believe it was five hours? (And Zoom didn't cut us off at 40 minutes!) It was awesome! |
