SNIP . . . All those metalcore records sound like shit. These endorsements turn people off. You're not wrong!! You try and work with heavy bands now and make a great sounding record that has everything clearly there and defined, captured, performances are worked on . . . and to many, it doesn't sound right to them. Cos they're used to listening to 'that sound'. You can't get people past some things. But we keep trying! Most of these new school guys need a harsh reality check. Blasting Led Zeppelin II or Motorhead at them in the middle of things, no matter their reference, shows them that they sound bad and aren’t very heavy. Most of these younger drummers would be heaving on the floor if they had to play like Phil Taylor for an hour straight every night.

The amphetamines and “nasal decongestants” helped. agree on the dirt boxes too. All of this praised low end tube gear is awful. Like really guys? Reminds me of Warm and current API tone wrecking gear. I’ve gotten into on the other site for point out recent 2500 revisions (They use worse vcas and less of them and some other wtf is this parts in a 3000 dollar box) basically destroy the timbre of whatever you’ve recorded instead of making it the same but better. Now even Drawmer gear does less harm because it’s become cleaner while API literally got junkier. im going to compare this waves abbey road to the Kush ar-1 (kush is an offender of dirtbox sound and the manuals def were written high), neold u73b and mjuc today. Let’s see if it can splat and not click.

I needed to know how it fared against the original plug in so I downgraded my OS to Mojave to get 32 Lives/Meta Plugin running the original again, check it out:

Great video. I had the original plugin from Abbey Road and loved it. Your video made me reinstall it. Thankfully, I'm still on Mojave so I can get it to work with 32 Lives again. Thanks for the reminder of how great that stuff is.

It just makes sense with the way I like to mix.

Cool video & info re: calibrating plugins thank goodness for sine waves Thanks, I appreciate it! Calibrating across a full spectrum like that has definitely taught me that most all meters on hardware and plug ins aren't quite being honest haha.

This is the coolest Waves plug in a long time. Everything seawell said is right. This is amazingly cool for pinning things down and just hitting superfuse for mojo but you really need to EQ before or after due to the high end boost, just like MJUC in the low end. Otherwise it will trash can things up like the Purple MC77 very quickly.

You probably know this but your comment about High End Boost made me want to remind folks that in mid-January Waves did what the almost never do and released a new version with the ability to roll-off the HF Boost. I haven’t tried the new version so I don’t know if it fixed things enough Oh and they are having a 40% Valentine’s Day sale right now that’s replacing the 40% off winter sale that came after their 40% off New Year Sale that was proceeded by their 40% off Christmas Sale which was... 😁

So the FUSE VCL-515 can do the same pin it down thing as the Waves but smoother. You can't get that gritty explosive, Ringo pumping cymbals meets Sonnox Inflator super fuse sound though that the Waves RS124 is great at.

It's nice of them to update their plugins per user feedback. They finally got the noise out of the Greg Wells 'Centric' plugins but it took them a few years of people complaining and being irritating.
