Here's a cool video from Exponential Audio. Reverb 101.

Interesting video, but I have to say that I've found the best sounding reverbs in a mix rarely sound good on their own, so demo-ing software on a single source is a crapshoot. Also, using a really bad sounding midi snare hit isn't a good idea to demonstrate your software either..
Also, there IS such thing as too many parameters.. Sheesh, using that plug is like figuring out how to please women.

But I would point out the the video is a tutorial about programming a reverb--not a comparative review. And the snare drum is real.

Interesting. Maybe it's the Youtube compression or something but it came across very lo-fi and synthetic sounding to me.

Loved Reverb 101! I use these verbs every day and I just call up a preset, tweak the pre delay and time and I'm done. When I first got them I did do some programming and found it to be very easy to get where I need to go. Great refresher on how easy they are to use. Actually, I'm going to create some henge presets right now!

I thought your snare sounded beautiful, Michael... So there... Johnkenn, did you listen to this? 1:45 or so when the snare comes on "unaffected", it almost sounds just like a computer glitch. There has to be something wrong with the video. No way that it should sound like that. @exponentialaudio, Are you hearing this?

No way that it should sound like that. @exponentialaudio, Are you hearing this? You really shouldn't listen so closely. That's not the point. I chose that snare (it's a vintage recording from the 80s) because its transient nature illustrated what I wanted to illustrate. It's a tutorial and you'd ideally follow along with your own material. There are other drum examples on the Youtube channel that you might enjoy more sonically. The AAC compression probably does steal some stuff away, especially because the drum's at a low level compared to the guy running his mouth.

So after getting deeper into R2 I found that the controls under the " Early" tab let me move the verb back and forth (depth wise) in space therefore gaining more control over the depth of the track.Very cool!
