While we are at it. Can someone clone the schoeps mic Probably ( I was going to say sure but that might seam like a pun), but other than price why? They still make them and in the world of Schoeps most prefer the new ones! Real deal are not cheap so a more cost effective solution would be interesting. Same with neumanns. Their mics are getting up around the price of a car. Some of these mics are silly expensive.

Half the MXL's and other cheap Chinese mics used to be based on the Schoeps circuitry. MJoly made an entire business out of getting those up to speed.

Mic Parts sells an sdc kit based on the Schoeps circuit It’s all about the capsule. The Schoeps circuit is pretty simple.

Soon enough I will start a dedicate thread for it which will include a ONE-TIME opportunity to pre-order for a very significant discount. Any chance you have a mailing list or anything like that to keep us informed?

So, on my recommendation, my brother has a Serrano 87 on the way to his house. Should be interesting to hear what he gets out of it.

Much better to be in house, rather than out house... Chris

Just ordered a pair from Carlos last night!
Gonna try on piano and vocals. I’m interested how it will sound against my Flea 47.
Will share my thoughts when they get here... the idea of having 2 87s faithful to the originals is pretty exciting.

Having lived with the SU87 for a couple of months now I gotta say -- damn, this is a fine sounding mic!

Trying to remember... Did you get a "bright"/Neutral/"dark" version? Thanks, Chris P.S. I realize what I'm calling "bright" is not as bright as a U87ai.

Guessing around "7.5" then, if "10" is darkest. Chris

I've been comparing my Serrano to an old U87. The old U87 sounds way more metallic than the Serrano!
The U87 does provide peace-of-mind, though.

Apparently that U87 was modified en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Kite_(U87)🤣
