It looks like I'm going to be in Nashville next week for a few days. Sunday through Tuesday, the 25th through the 27th.
Where should I go and eat or visit? I realize Covid has some things shut down, just like everywhere else.
Suggestions for music related stuff would obviously be great.

I’m not sure if the musicians hall of fame is open, but that’s always a nice place to wander. If you like guitars and stringed instruments Carter and Gruhns are worth a visit. If you really like guitars you can also swing by Rumble Seat. They are all off the same street.
Cheekwood is great if you like wondering around looking at flowers, art, and old houses.
I’m not a hot chicken person but Princes is “the one”. Hot fish from Bolton’s. Hattie B’s is fine too but usually has long lines.
Joey’s is the best place for pizza. Only open for lunch. If you like classic cars and motorcycles the Lane Motor Museum is definitely worth a visit.
If you like records Grimeys for new and used, Great Escape (especially Charlotte Ave) for crate digging for classic rock/country.
If you like drums Nelson’s Drum Shop and Forks.
I’m not sure how stuff is going down on Broadway and all that.

We'll probably at least wander around down there even if there really isn't anything you can do down there right now. Thanks.

Is Third Man a place you can visit? I'd definitely have an interest in that. Or, if there were any old classic studios you can tour. I don't know if any of them actually do that sort of thing, which would totally be understandable if they don't.

It was a part of the country hall of fame museum if I remember correctly. They would throw you on a bus and take you over there for like a 45 min tour. They still had the API in there - I think that might be gone now though? Edit - here’s the link to get tickets. I’m not an old school country music guy but I’d check out the museum as well -it was pretty damn cool studiob.org/buy-tickets/?redirected

Start every day with breakfast at Monell's out by the airport... then after you awake from your 4 hour nap, plan lunch.

The Monell’s in Germantown (near downtown) is a really beautiful old building, if that’s more convenient to where you are staying.
Arnold’s is the best meat and three...it’s written about for a reason!
Acme is, for someone who doesn’t like bars, my favorite downtown. if you want to eat, they have great food as well. Roberts probably usually has the best music, and the fried bologna sandwiches aren’t bad
If you have a vegetarian/vegan the Wild Cow or Sunflower Cafe are awesome
RCA B isn’t doing tours Monday through Thursday this week. I don’t know if anywhere else does a tour...I’m sure you could call any studio and say “I’m interested in booking your studio, can I have a look?”
Oh, if you’re a coffee person, there are lots of great choices. Dose, Crema, and Retrograde are probably the most “just pure, fancy coffee” places, Portland Brew, Forthy Monkey and the Bongo cafes/restaurants are good if you like fancy lattes and stuff. Frothy Monkey probably has the best food...well Dose actually does but I think it’s take out only right now.
If you are in or near East Nashville Margot is the best breakfast. And the best service. And honestly, having lived in the area for over a decade, my favorite place. Like, when I just want to relax and have a mellow meal and sit outside and not have to worry about crowds and loud music, that’s the place.

We'll be staying downtown. I forget exactly where. I'll definitely try out Monell's and Margot. That's a bummer about RCA. I'll look around and see what other studios might be worth visiting.

Maybe RCA will be doing tours next week, during the first part of the week? I wasn't super clear in my first post. I meant, next, next week. Sunday the 25th through Tuesday, the 27th.

Start every day with breakfast at Monell's out by the airport... then after you awake from your 4 hour nap, plan lunch. When I used to spend a lot of time in Nashville (mid-90s through mid-2000s), the Pancake Pantry was always the place to go. Has it fallen out of favor? Tied for the best grits I've ever eaten, and probably the very best daytime pancakes I've ever eaten. (Best late-night pancakes were probably Ol' South Pancake House in Ft. Worth, TX.) Back then, Pancake Pantry was the place to "see and be seen" in the Nashville music industry, which was a major, annoying distraction from how good the food was.

So my girlfriend is now joining me and I have now adjusted my trip (added some days) to get there this Thursday (instead of Sunday) and come back next Tuesday (as previously planned).
So I need to figure out where I'm staying these additional nights. My Sunday and Monday night locations are already locked in.
My guess is downtown would probably be the best bet for proximity of stuff to do, but I'm all ears. Any thoughts on what part of town we should stay in on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night? I'm open to hotels or Air BnBs. Any particular neighborhoods we should look at staying in?

The Russell in East Nashville is very close to downtown, probably a lot cheaper, brand new, and SUPER vibey. It’s in an old church.

Any stuff within walking distance. How is east Nashville, in general? Sorry for all of the questions. I just know very little about the town.

There are restaurants and bars within walking distance. Some shopping.
Nashville’s not a great walking town, to be honest.

If you're into music history, I always thought the Ryman Auditorium is a cool place to tour or see a show at least once. I think their shows are re-scheduled due to covid but it looks like they allow self guided tours at ryman.com/covid19/And here's a link to more history on it at ryman.com/history/

That was definitely on the list.
