Alto sells a lot of Beyer, If they were to advertise below MAP they would need Beyer’s permission, if not Beyer would either have to cut them off or Beyer’s US MAP policy would be null and void. Also no manufacturer is going to give permission to advertise at a loss, not worth the headache. I hear you on the advertising. But why would Alto even sell it at a loss, period? Doesn't make any sense to me. I don’t think they did! I’m betting there deal is far off sheet, free freight, early pay discount and end of year rebate if they meet goals. Plus I’ll bet M160’s are more profitable than you think.

I just wouldn't have guessed that ANY of this stuff would be marked up that high. But you know more about this stuff than I do.

I bought a Coles 4038 from this seller...Great price, no issues. I didn’t ask any questions, He said something about he found them when they fell off a truck ...ha jk.
Now with taxes there are really no deals anymore IMO on these sites. Gotta look on forums and local ads.

Quint and ericn - I think I was remembering wrong and it was more like $399? May have even been ProAudioStar... It was a ridiculously good deal, and after a week or two was gone. It was December of 2019, I remember that much. HA! That said Alto Music and ProAudioStar pretty cool about trying to adjust, match or beat prices if you shoot them an email offer. FOUND IT! I wrote: 'FWIW ProAudioStar is blowing out new M160s for $419...'- Jan 2, 2020 on another thread.

Doesn't make any sense to me. They don't. They just sell below what is the 'normal' cost, sometimes. You see a lot of 'Call for your price' on various reseller websites - this usually indicates they can't advertise their below MAP pricing. Like ericn is saying. They are honestly one of the best dealers around. Some of the advanced services they offer are next level. Alto are innovative problem solvers, Zen Pro are solution finders, and Sweetwater just have everything and the nicest people. Those are my top-3 for so many things.

I just checked Studio Care. They're about $480 over there. Damn. Why are these so much more expensive over here in the US? Why is most of the US stuff so much more expensive over here? Again, trade wars.
Most people son't understand that a tariff on goods from a particular country does not drive up prices there, it drives up prices HERE.
Think about it - how could a tariff on imports from elsewhere drive up prices anywhere BUT the USA? Tariffs are stupid.

To a very small extent. I’ll put this as simply as I can, just like us people like to eat. In this case the people involved in the shipping of goods and those who work for foreign distributors and sometimes reps. It all adds up then gets multiplied by dealer retail mark up.

They make up, any lo$$es, in volume... On the M160. I really liked the sound of it, on Bill Joel's studio vocals... On "The Stranger" album. Sold a few copies too. Chris

Wasn't that a big 70's hit for both Bob Marley and Eric Clapton... "I Shot The Tariff"?
