That’s been the regular price in the UK. Studio Care is also a good place to grab a pair of Coles...I think brand new they are about $1800? Neumann’s as well.

I’ll bet if you call some US dealers rather than just look on line and see the MAP you can equal or beat that deal

I bought my matched pair of Coles 4038's from Studio Care a few years ago. Much cheaper than buying them here in Oz even after shipping and all taxes and dutys.

US dealer can't match the price, it's below their cost. But I don't *think* you'll be able to send it to a US service center if you buy it in Europe. But, I don't know what the warranty on a new M160 is so that might not matter too much.

Some not all factor in such things as free freight, Financing terms and possible end of year rebates. Many will have off sheet deals. The costs seen by employees of the US largest dealer have no basis in reality. A good gearpimp match the deal take the hit and take it up with their rep.

I got one super cheap on eBay years ago that was DOA. When I emailed beyer for service I wound up having to send it back to Europe to get it re-ribboned. Still made out on the deal but the wait was almost a month and a half. 🤷🏻♂️

I was thinking in context where you bought one in great condition and took care of it. Not much goes wrong unless you're a careless numbskull!

He forgot the words under warranty. Beyerdynamic USA is the sole authorized US importer, any unit that is brought into the USA even by an end user is considered gray market.

Damn. When? Black Friday? Repeat after me: sell and advertise are 2 different things. Haha. Yes. I know. I've gotten good deals before that were cheaper than advertised. But he made it sound like that $299 price was an advertised price at Alto. And $299 almost sounds like it was being sold at a loss. I can't imagine that the markup on M160s is so high that Alto could sell them for $299 and still make a profit?

Alto sells a lot of Beyer, If they were to advertise below MAP they would need Beyer’s permission, if not Beyer would either have to cut them off or Beyer’s US MAP policy would be null and void. Also no manufacturer is going to give permission to advertise at a loss, not worth the headache.

Doesn't make any sense to me.
