Had a few beers last night at Rhinegeist while watching my favorite soccer team lose their playoff match. Highlight was a nice Imperial IPA (Sabretooth Tiger)

Not nearly enough.Alcohol is not a substitute for a real pain killer.

Bought the jumbo bottle size (1.75 liters) of Larceny and the Elijah Craig Rye at the Liquor Wine and Lotto discount outlet. Less than $97. That's $20.75 a 26er (750ml) (5th)
Damned fine deals. 7 days left in Sober October.

There was a time when anything with the 'Wild Turkey' name was considered only a step above white label Jim Beam when it came to bourbon lovers. LOL Presently editing guitar tracks and having a couple splashes of it.

Not drinking today... yet, because Bailey's in my coffee doesn't count, right? But the last couple of days. Holy smokes, bunch of clients in on a Christmas record and we went through a few bottles of Knob Creek and Elijah Craig. Both bourbon and rye. Curiously, no hangovers. Why? Higher quality? I'm asking you jacobamerritt and anyone else who would care to answer.

Those are all the obvious factors. Also drinking things 'neat' actually helps - usually its added sugars that causes the hangover. So make a few old fashioneds, or manhattans with bad vermouth... cheap wine (which often adds sugar)... headache. And yeah- pound a glass of water between drinks. Going to bed after a Derby Club, pour of rum, a nice mai tai, and another pour of rum feeling fine. Ate a good dinner, and drank lots of water

Just got a 17 year George Dickel Store Pick. I've had one before and it has the Dickel Funk that some hate. It's def a thing...Anyway, this one is a little different. Got to taste before I bought. It's exceptionally smooth - you can tell it's an old whiskey. Great sipper for around $65.

Just reaching the last of a Dickel 15 year. I'm not always in the mood for it but I really enjoy it when I am. I've also enjoyed the Dickel BIB in mixed drinks...that kinda funky flavor adds some low mids to manhattan/old fashioned sorts of recipes.

I'm still slowly working my way through this 60. ounce bottle of Elijah Craig Rye, but polished off a couple few other bottles in the process.

Really haven't been drinking much bourbon lately, but just got a bottle of Bulleit this afternoon - I know some of you will think that rather pedestrian, but I like Bulleit. Smooth, slightly on the sweet side. Have had a couple shots this evening, may go for one more.

Search the internet if you are curious. Try Bulleit Controversy' and a couple things will pop up. But its true - their products are solid.

Maker's Mark is my usual baseline, and I'm usually happy enough with that, but my local ABC store didn't have any small bottles of Maker's today.

I love this quote re: Bulleit in the article I found: "After swirling, the citrus notes are accentuated, potentially transporting you to the tropical islands of Fiji."
Believe it or not, I actually lived in the South Pacific not too far from Fiji for almost three years. By this quote, the author of this article has demonstrated his lack of knowledge about the agriculture actually grown in the South Pacific. I'll leave it at that.

Nothing ever wrong with a drop of Bulleit or Larceny neat or on ice! Doesn't burn and always finishes clean.

DRY MONTH IS OVER, HOO-RAH!!
Just now, this afternoon, I blessed my pallet with a dram of Knob Creek Rye over a large chunk of ice in a copper cup.
'Twas glorious!
