I haven't, but I did watch a video the other day where someone replaced the tubes with good brand name tubes and it didn't change a single thing about the unit, so that means the circuit itself is probably where the work needs to be done.
There was a long thread here. Biggest difference is the inductor, making the bandwidths on the boosts much more narrow than standard. If you replace that, you probably have to replace the associated caps. Is there room on the board to easily do that? Dunno. Do that before doing ANYTHING ELSE if it's Pultec sound and shape you are after.
