Got my pair in today, they're amazing in the API 8200A. The best I've ever heard it in drum summing duties. Next is to try them in the Silver Bullet, I think I'll be getting at least half a dozen more soon.

In terms of audible difference, one switch that sounded truly night and day to me was going from LTL Rogue 5's to GAR AM10's in a pair of CAPI 553 EQ's. It changed the way the bands respond and the overall vibe pretty significantly. I was about to sell them until I made that switch. Now I love how they sound. Dropping them in my pair of 553's today. Thanks for mentioning this. Looking forward to hearing them. Edit: them = AM10's

I have an AM10 in my ss Pultec running on 24v. Absolutely love it.
Doesn’t hurt that it’s using Western Electric 111c for in/out transformers.

For those of you using AM10 opamps in standard 500 series lunchboxes, are you seeing any (sonic) problems with the lower voltage? Lower headroom? Distortion??
Really want to try some of these, but the issue with lower voltage is scaring me a little..

Really want to try some of these, but the issue with lower voltage is scaring me a little.. Nothing that I've noticed. Mine are in my 553 eq's, mostly in a Sweet 10 rack. I've used them in my RND R6 rack as well and no issues there either.

Really want to try some of these, but the issue with lower voltage is scaring me a little.. Sorry - they'll work just fine, don't get me wrong. No smoke or anything like that. They're just not going to work as they were originally designed to, because they were designed for +/-28V operation. But - I would expect to hear audible distortion differences from the AM10 at high output levels between running it as designed vs on 500 series power rails. The slew rate drops significantly at the lower voltage, so you'd expect audible slew rate distortion to pop up above +10 dBu or so. But... "audible difference" doesn't mean "horrible sounding".

These just continue to amaze. The newest experiment was popping them in my Brute (one of the original VF-600's got noisy so I've been trying other opamps from the collection). I've always dug the comp's action but tonally would tend to stay with other options when mixing vocals. Now it's become one of my absolute favorites in that role, just a completely new life. Have 4 more arriving this week to try in my 550A pair and also got some of those DIYRE opamp colour modules so I can try running them with Mass Drivers. Looking like my initial guestimation of needing half a dozen more will become a full dozen so I don't have to keep playing the opamp swap game.

Okay, I just got a pair of these to put in my Silver Bullet. I did not expect it to make this drastic of a difference. Wow. No disrespect to the Rogue 5's, but I feel like this just significantly upgraded the "A" side of the SB for me!

Where is the best place to purchase the CAPI CA-0252 pre-assembled? Given the glowing responses, I'd like to hear it in my Silver Bullet. I don't have the eyesight for assembly.
Thanks!

Waiting for the BT50 to get back in stock then gonna order me some! I didn’t think the gar2520 could be beat for my VP28s, but apparently so. This is what makes discrete op-amp gear (and tube gear) so cool. You can always change up the flavor a bit.

No disrespect to the Rogue 5's, but I feel like this just significantly upgraded the "A" side of the SB for me! For clarity sake, "SB" from here on means "Silver Bullet", not "SumBus". Put two in my SB as well thanks to your post and agree, but I've been using the N side for a few years fed by a SumBus. The API 5500 follows the Silver Bullet (SumBus -> SB -> 5500) in my stereo chain and has had Red Dots in it for about four years, I think. No complaints at all. Put in the 0252's that arrived from Audibility today in the 5500 and have been listening. Things were immediately tubby on first listen with the SB on N. Really changed the mids and low-mids. Doing a lot of repeat listening now and switching the SB between all the modes. No golden ears here, but digging the A-N on the SB I/O set at 10 and 2 o'clock, which I've pretty much never been able to get out of, no matter what's going into it. Anyway, more experimenting to do.

Well, shit. And then I pull the "Tight" button out on the SB, and magic happens (Edit: mode on the SB back to N). Just part of knowing I've got a combination of stuff going on and you have to mess around to find the right mix. Yeah, wow. The center image is killer and way more forward. But shit is still moving.
