Thanks to my fellow Nashvillian/Franklinite, littlesicily! He spotted a Lexicon 212 at a local pawn shop and gave me a heads up on it. The Lexicons were OEM rebranded Brystons...This particular model being the exact same as a Bryston 3BST. So...I swiped it up for $450! I figured if it didn't sound as good as the Emotiva XPA-1L's I had, I could flip it. BUT - it sounds better. Not as much power/volume, but the top end is DEFINITELY smoother. I just spent a couple hours remixing a tune that I had just mixed on the Emotiva's...and the top end translated SO much better. I had been noticing my mixes were a little dark with the Emo's...because they're brite. I had first thought it was the Pro Acs that were brite, but man, the amp makes a huge difference...I hadn't really noticed HOW much until I had the two in the same room. So, thanks, Sal! The only complaint I have is that the overall volume is less...so I might look for the one Sal has (Lexicon 225/Bryston 4BST) and sell this one...but meh...who knows! I probably need to keep things lower than I have in the past.
