Not shitting on the effort or knowledge in the thread at all, but should add that I purchased tickets to a few of Pete Yorn's live streams that he's done in the past few months from his house. Laptop, Apogee USB mic (I think) and the shit was rocking. Carrying the laptop to the piano and pulling that thing off was moving. That's a whole different discussion though.
Excellent info on this thread for sure.

The RGO Holiday party gave me some good info. Three Point Lighting. Off to Lowe's for a third Smart WiFi bulb for the back light. Please keep the suggestions coming. No, wait. Don't. ;-)

Question regarding audio bitrate for YouTube.
Did my first livestream last night via YouTube, kind of a dry run mainly for family (they are the most understanding of issues). All in all it came off well. I'm running OBS, video at 1080p/30fps/3500kbps/Ultrafast. The pic is decent, and I don't think it's going to get much better based on the webcams I'm using and the lighting/background I've chosen for this event. Audio is the question.
In listening back to the recording I hear the audio switching back and forth between a very open/crisp sound and a fuller, less detailed sound. I don't know which one it is supposed to be, but if it was coming through that way live, it would have been annoying and certainly not the best audio quality. I have the audio set to 48k/192. With all of those settings, the CPU was running at about 30%. I heard I had a couple of glitches over the course of 45 minutes, but for the most part everything streamed well.
Can I make changes to ensure I have better/the best audio quality? Is it worth upping to 256 or 320? Can YouTube even ingest/process that? Is there a way to prioritize the audio? I care more about the sound than I do the picture. The audio is really the whole point.
Going to try to do this again on Wednesday to a much larger audience, so hoping to have adjustments made by then. I'll continue to experiment, but wondering if anyone here has suggestions based on experience.
Thanks!
Todd

Hey Todd, are your streams archived for regular viewing on YouTube? I'd like to check out what you did. It would be fun to see that REDD get worked out too. Thanks.

Doing the second one tonight at 7:30 PM CST, and will archive it as well. Here's the link for tonight in case you're really bored! (I can forward you the archive after it's done as well.)

Not a live stream. But here's another video I produced with the equipment.
Recorded, mixed, mastered, and video produced at my joint.
