I have aquired this Valvotronics Gain Ryder 3 opto tube compressor. There is not much about it on the net.... It was in good shape and only needed a bit of recalibration.
It sounds quite nice, clean compression without much coloration. Could be interesting for tracking stereo sources where you need something to tame some transients.
Has anybody used this unit before ?

They are great - I’ve used one a bunch, and was about to purchase one from The guy that builds them (Robert Derby) and ran into a money situation when I was about to pull the trigger on it years ago.
He has some great mods that he did to one of the units I tried out.
Great as a bus comp - I know lots of theater guys running FOH would use a bunch of them on their busses like 15 years ago or so.
Nice pick!

I don't know about mods, there's three versions of them anyway. I have one and it's great for tracking, stealthy and smooth. I think it's ugly but it stays in the rack because it does a good job.

They were made for theatres. Sound good, look like tack.

I've wanted one for a long time. Never seem to find one at the right time. Ugly doesn't bother me.
