I had never even heard of this movie...about halfway through it right now. One of the best representations of a studio scene I’ve seen on film. Not totally truthful of course, but you can tell the director has been in a studio before.

Not totally truthful of course, but you can tell the director has been in a studio before. for sure. I saw it in the theater, actually. Really liked it. Great song it’s named after, too. I especially liked the scene where Brian was playing piano (“God Only Knows,” I think?) and his father basically told him he was no good and what he was writing sucked. I say I “liked” that scene, but of course I really hated it. What I liked was how it demonstrated the emotional abuse Brian had suffered at his father’s hands. Which was then later echoed by his terrible therapist whose license was later revoked by the state of CA.
