This confirms it!: Now through June 30th, purchase and register any new UAD-2 OCTO PCIe Card (Core, Custom, or Ultimate 2) and get a $750 UAD plug-in coupon! levon just wanted to apologize if my post seemed dismissive. I was trying to acknowledge your position but argue to the contrary, sorry if i created a different impression.

Fellas, how far will a Uad2 solo card get ya? Esp if you wanna use the mkii plugs Hi Lolo, indeed not that far. Here have been managing a UAD2-solo and a soon-to-get-rid-off UAD1e. I use 3-4 1176mkii, 2 Teletronix-Mkii, a few Pultecs instances ( original ), a few Precision De-essers. This gets my system almost full. ( maybe a Dimension-D or Roland CE-1 can be added here if needed ) After that, if I need more, I just commit to the 1176/Teletronix and bounce the tracks ( either with only those for further editing the track, or all that's inserted in 1 track if I am happy with it ) Then I can start again, and use the free dsp for an EMT 140, which I like a lot, and the Neve33609 which sees some action on the drumbus or mixbus. I don't mind working like this for now as the mkii get me where I want pretty fast, so no need here to tweak them until the end of the mix, but that might not be everybody's workflow It depends on how much mkii you want to use: 10 tracks with mkii compressors on it will eat more than the mkii Pultecs, but can be doable with a Duo So if you're aiming north of 20 tracks with mkii + tape emu + reverbs, a Quad would be minimum requirement. Regards Nico

I usually only average around 20-30 tracks...and a Quad is plenty for me...but this is a good deal.

Cheers for the replies fellas. I can pickup a solo really cheap. Thinking about it. Keen to use the 1176's, la2a's and 140 or 250 plates. Maybe space echo. See this becomes dangerous only talking about it.

Yes the number of chips in the solo card and the probability that one will want more dsp soon enough but workflow is personal so if the solo floats the boat great: i'd save my dough or advertise for a used quad satalite : likely to pop up with the new octo deal .
